Masterworking.. about to pull my hair out

Totally agree here, why can’t I get a gold and mats refund from the blacksmith since he clearly needs a new profession, messes up more then getting it right by a long shot lol

On the one hand I can totally see how this would irritate the piss out of somebody. On the other, I straight up don’t care about where the big hits land. I think of 12/12 as done for my purposes. I’d have to be sitting on some really amazing gear before I got bothered to the point of resetting those unless it was on some razor thin margin of making a build work or not, which seems like it would a pretty rare occurrence.

I think the real problem is that there is no truly fun way to farm gold… And tempering… definitely tempering…
(At least you don’t lose the item with Masterworking)

Only 30m? Rob’s helm took nearly 2b and I’ve run into several 500m re-rolls just to get TWO of the SAME affix upgraded, never mind the third.

This game encourages you to grind a lot of materials and gold to supply the gearing needs.

I think I’m just inherintly unlucky. All I usually do is if the first 4/12 hits what I want I just keep it and go from there. This season I have reset an item 8 times already just trying to get that first 4/12 to hit lol. So annoying.

I’m of the opinion having all your gear at 8/12 or 12/12 regardless of what it hits is worth the power boost then you can use that power to try to farm more mats and reset one item at a time and try to hone it in if it’s really bad.

I’m also of the opinion that with an 0.8% chance to get all 3 masterworks land on what you want it’s really not worth the time investment to attempt it unless you have nothing else to do I guess.

At least it’s resettable but yeah it’s irritating. I’m not even looking for meta. I just keep getting stuff like crits on armor or resist that I’m already over cap on. I get them many times in a row. That’s when I get upset. Anything else I just live with the roll.

I just try to get the first affix to hit what I want and then after that I just “deal with it” with the remaining ones. I think a more refined system would not only make people happier, but also create a better gold sink in masterworking. (And Blizzard seems to love their gold sinks)

Reset to 0 will remain the same, but there would be new reset options. Reset to rank 4 would cost 10 mil and reset to rank 8 would cost 20 mil. Now people have a bit more control over masterworking at the cost of a lot more gold.

Unlike D2 and D3 this game designed exclusively for basement dwellers with no life. Accept w/e it rolls for you and move on

Plz tell me 20x in a roll hitting att spd on 4/12 on my FoF where my cap 1 att spd is maxed is rng. Another story if 20x undesired rolls are randomly distributed on other affixes.

D4 similar to D3 is codeded for time sinks aka fake rng.

Its 1 in 52 chances.

I swear the game is trolling me. I reset 3 more times today, and it’s masterworked the same flipping tempered affix every time. 3 of my previous 6 resets also hit this same affix.

RNG needs more R

Unlike d2? Which has massive rng and massive loot drop tables of 1:90,000,000 million or more chances to get. With doing endless runs over and over to get items or runes? Are you kidding me or just dense?

All I see is a bunch of arm chair quarter-backs crying in this forum constantly. If you all do not like it, go play different game.

so much time, materials and gold sink … for these TWO lousy loot design =
“Rng” x “Hidden weights” behind, Tempering and Masterworking =\

… to retain our login x playtime x (UN)-enjoyment

vs.

if there is a steady stable long-term endgame (leaderboard aka competitive self/others), i don’t mind the sinks … to get godly items, gedgud,
, but with current d4 unreal endgame which is REPEAT FARMING = just give us the things freely, drops FOC while we play engage CASUALLY w the game elements.

Comparing Diablo 4 which was designed as a casual-friendly live service ARPG (for better or for worse) to Diablo 2 (which is 24 years old and came out when video gaming was more niche and anything with an RPG system was very niche and played by people expecting and willing to spend A LOT of time on them) is a fools’ errand.

Funny how getting your character to the absolute max it can be actually takes time and effort. Honestly, it’s more fun to just roll around with what you can get rather than try to push to be the top 1% of a game with no player-competition mechanics (that isn’t purely community driven).

Gauntlet doesn’t count cause no one seems to really care.

I’m not the one that compared it. I am replying to the person who is.

I have all 6 Unique / Mystic GA Masterworked 3 times in one affix include two GA CDR. You just need more gold and material, this is easiest thing to achieve. Just farm harder in Infernal Hordes T7.

I can’t even solo tier 6 yet with my gear, definitely not getting invited to any T7’s. Not that finding a group in this game is possible most the time, meaning I don’t have much choice other than solo, solo, solo.

When I see ppl running around with 12/12 masterworked GA mythics, I know that A) they’ve spent a lot of time in game, but also B) they have an active clan or group that helps them experience gearing up and progress in this game beyond the snail’s pace I’m at currently.

Exactly this!!! Make this game with no resets then yes, but in limited time frame its useless and stupid. We have 5 classes +1 coming and 10+ builds for every class you would like to try.

Meanwhile you are not able to hit the right affix on one of your items…

Agree. The Gauntlet d4 doesn’t compare well w D3’s GR or other games’ TRUE Endgame.

Gauntlet - Monsters types, dmg types, behaviour (movement, special moves) types, environment (narrow, linear, wide, obstacle) doesn’t require gamers to understand and adapt. It’s just mowing down quickly, moving quickly to get kills/keys to increase points.
Some ppl may enjoy, some of us do not. Latter probably prefers basketball to running. Both takes skills (different types) …
