Some ppl are saying that the mana shield is somehow double dipping on damage resistance.
It aināt broke⦠therefore Blizz doesnāt need to fix it.

Damn it! Why canāt we have some fun with mana shield without people screaming to nerf itš? If you donāt like it, donāt use it. If you are jealous, roll a sorcerer and join in the fun! Honestly, I am enjoying it more for the many chances I get to roll for Chaos gears (i.e., complete whispers faster to get more chances to roll for Chaos gears - kind of like gambling⦠think I am addicted).
Anyway, this could be the last season before the next expansion pack. Blizzard would want us to have some good fun experiences before pushing out the next expansion pack - levering on recency of memory. ![]()
Marred Guard needs to also add a bunch of Damage Reduction. It does not add enough EHP, especially with how Fortify works. Unlike Barrier, Fortify just gives you very minor DR boost while it is active. Barrier on the other hand DOUBLES your HP with 100% Barrier. Players who have access to both probably do not have any issue generating 100% Barrier or keeping Fortified the entire time.
Considering Barrier cannot exceed 100% Max HP and you are either Fortifiedā¦or not it is limiting. Another route to go would be Marred Guard increasing Max HP by 75%. Barrier becomes more effective.
They would also need Healing Effects to still grant bonuses despite not healing. This is the least they can do considering you lose the āHealthyā status making some mechanic no longer function.
I have an idea how i can have fun with the rogue w/o getting 1-shotted while using marred guard & cornered beast.
I just build the deathtrap rogue like i did in season 9. I use mythics and non-chaos gear. I have all achievements done that requires wearing chaos gear. With the S9 build the dt rogue is tanky as hell because he got so much damage reduction he is also nearly impossible to get killed. ![]()
Fot the extra damage i can take the new chaos powers like the nice looking blue/green explosions and āhit and runā for another damage boost. Run 15 metres get more damage for 5 secs. 5 secs are enough to kill anything doing activities like helltides, infernal hordes or non-high-pushing pits. I would be fine with this.
Would this work in S10? Or is this just the last resort of a confused Mad Man? niahahahahaaaaaaaa ![]()

Mana shield plus the hydra (that consumes all my mana) is such a risk to use. It goes against my personal play style (or how Iām used to playing sorc in D 4).
In the past, when I cast Hydra (even if took all my mana) Obviously I still have my Health, so nothing to worry about.
With the mana shield I have to be more strategic, and cast hydra āoff screenā knowing/hoping itāll kill what ever it is out there. Hydra is Very powerful with mana shield obviously⦠butā¦Iām not much of a fan of risk/reward in this particular play style.
I donāt know if there is a way Around this (maybe), but until there is Iāll avoid either using mana shield all together or play other characters this season.
I have yet to truly enjoy/understand mana shield like so many sorcererās have.
Right now Iām playing storm/raven Druid, and Iām having a decent time with it. Not sure if I can handle T 4, though it seems I canā¦I just have to be JUST as careful.
You can have a look at the Maxroll Hydra Build. Its very nicely done. Theres 0 risk. You can spam Hydra or any other skills like a machinegun.
Im always having a full mana orb plus im invulnerable.

Donāt use the hydra aspect. Push your damage with other aspects if you use manashield.

i tested it on Duriel and still got 1-shot by Durielās claw the sorc to the stomach and get digested.
so manashield is not OP.
This animation is a certain death, regardless of hp.
is it? did the devs change it to mandatory death? i remember some seasons ago the devoured character could still survive with some health after being flushed out.

i played hydra for a few days after getting the iris amulet in the early levels.
It is my experience. I once died from it even after escaping from it with an immune skill.
Like the 5 finger heart explosion technique from Kill Bill 2.
Same complaints to nerf fun, just different season.
Seasons 3 months, then they will complain about the next thing.

manashield can stand Avarice ore explosion and Wondering Deathās ray.
Manashield can sustain every attack ingame. Try out Lilith or the Harbinger when it jumps out of the portal. Catch the dog. ![]()
