Make Greatstaff of the Crone Great Again

Been thinking how to make Greatstaff great again.

How about changing the Unique modifiers to:

+2 to Basic Skills
+65% Basic skills chance to deal double damage
Storm Strike chains + 2 targets
Claw and Storm Strike now deals 5,000 poison damage over 4 seconds

Unique Affix:

Claw is now also a storm skill and also cast Storm Strike at 10x normal damage.

It is still to little… you miss out so many multipliers through gear for basics

I’m banking on the same effect as the calm before the storm on the poison damage with wind shear

Just make it an offhand and cut the affixes in half.

What’s bringing it down is the fact that you can’t use Shard of Verathiel with it.

True. But the damage will still be low.

should be close to par with verathiel and offhand multiplier wise, maybe 400% would do it. if can get attack speed from wildheart for max easily without verathiel.

wouldn’t it be interesting if it gave you a kepeleke like change with the veranthiel effect?

Something like:

Claw and Maul become core skills, costing 20-30 resource. In addition claw gets the storm tag and maul gets the earth tag. I’m positive somebody will say that’s OP, but its a thought. lol

I don’t think that’s OP at all. It would still leave those builds at a mediocre level. Changing it to a Rod of Kep type staff is actually a pretty solid idea to be honest.

I agree that without major dmg increases both those builds will still be lackluster but at least a little more is better than none. I mentioned that that blizz dev team really could make minor changes to druids basics and have some pretty cool stuff that would help assuage the hurt from items like the crone staff.

For instance if they gave druids access to spiritborns aspect of combine strikes:

  • Aspect of Combined Strikes

Spiritborn/Druid

Slots: Gloves, Offhand, 1H Weapon, 2H Weapon (+100%), Ring, Amulet (+50%)

Each different Basic Skill you cast increases all of your damage by x [10 - 30%] for 10 seconds.

Umm with nature’s fury we could rotate basics around as actionable attacks keeping up a 30x dmg buff. I don’t think that would be too ridiculous to ask for considering basic skill builds on druid are so lacking in power to begin with is as nature’s fury is a 60 % proc (so not guaranteed).
