#Make Diablo Great Again

Diablo 4, what could have been.

#makediablogreatagain

Problems:

  1. Loot grind is so boring.
  2. Cant trade for best in slot Aspects or Unique’s
  3. Hard to find Pick Up Groups
  4. Campaign is Amazing! Better Skip it.
  5. Renown! Lets cater to Casuals and Kill it.
  6. Shop Problem? We will fix that NOW! Inventory? Season 4 so we don’t mess anything up
  7. Nerfing players can be done overnight. Fixing Quality of life problems… 4 months.
  8. New Season! Wow… a new gem… Wow… it drops from Elite Mobs, that summons another elite mob. Is this a joke?
  9. Casual players have already quit. Hardcore players are Bored out of their minds. But thank god your Shop and Battle pass functions work properly.

Solutions:

1.Loot Grind: Introduce more engaging and rewarding loot grind mechanics. Consider adding unique or interesting modifiers to items that enhance gameplay, rather than just incremental stat increases.

2.Trading: Implement a secure in-game trading system that allows players to trade for best-in-slot Aspects or Unique items without resorting to third-party markets. This can help prevent exploitation and improve the overall player experience.

3.Pick Up Groups: Improve the matchmaking system to make it easier for players to find and join groups for various activities. Enhance social features, such as a global chat channel, to facilitate communication and collaboration.

4.Campaign: Add the option to skip cutscenes for players who prefer to focus on gameplay. Address issues with escort missions and consider implementing alternative mission types to provide more variety.

5.Renown: Make the Renown system more engaging by offering meaningful rewards and quests that provide a sense of progression. Ensure that the rewards are worthwhile and balanced, encouraging players to actively participate.

6.Shop and Inventory: Prioritize fixing quality of life issues and bugs related to the shop and i nventory system. Ensure that these features function properly and provide a smooth experience for players.

7.New Seasons: Introduce compelling season themes and rewards that excite both casual and hardcore players. Consider innovative gameplay mechanics and unique challenges that enhance replayability and provide a fresh experience each season.

8.Stash Space: Address community concerns about limited stash space by either increasing the default capacity or offering reasonable in-game methods to expand it. Balance the need for additional storage with the desire for players to engage with the game’s economy.

9.Communication and Feedback: Improve communication with the player base by actively listening to feedback and addressing concerns promptly. Engage with the community through official forums, social media, and regular developer updates to foster a sense of trust and transparency.

10.Game Monetization: Focus on creating a high-quality game experience that keeps players engaged and willing to spend money on expansions, cosmetic items, and other optional purchases. Avoid implementing mechanics that compromise gameplay in an attempt to drive revenue.

Me Ranting:

  1. Loot tiers need to be fixed. Tier 4 needs to drop Ancestral Items and more of them. We are already looking for a needle in a hay stack… At least give us a way to find the stacks. If you arnt going to change the item stats, at least put them in some kind of order. Everyone Needs CDR on helms… PUT THAT MOD FIRST. Everyone Needs Vulnerability on Weapons… PUT THAT MOD FIRST. How is this hard… I already have to read through 33 items every time I come to town… at least help me do that so I can go back and Play your game. All items need level caps so I have a reason to make alts. My lvl 100 finding items and aspects that require lvl 100… Is beyond stupid.
  2. Let us be honest about this. You don’t want to pay people to police your game. Trading would make a market for 3rd party sales and you don’t want to deal with it. So you made your game WORSE to compete with this. Diablo 2 has had 3rd party sites FOREVER, that use Forum Gold so players can trade… YOU CAN DO THIS IN YOUR GAME… Its not even a hard site to run… Why don’t you do it?! It blows my mind.
  3. You created an open world… with a Max of 12 players per zone… This just sounds stupid to me. If I want to talk to people… I only talk to those on my shard… This is stupid to me… its 2023… You cant make a chat that everyone can be in? seriously?
  4. Your campaign is Amazing. Why cant I skip the cutscenes? Why are the escort missions so slow? These are not NEW complaints to the ARPG community. Why did you do the same thing people have complained about for years? Also… Why cant I fight the bosses again… I like Killing Andarial… Why is she not in the game?!
  5. I did the Renown grind. Its boring. Its boring because the quests are more fun to skip and provide garbage for rewards. If you made it fun, Id do it. If you made every quest drop 3 Random Ancestral Items and give decent experience. Id do them all… every season… With no complaints. I have a problem with them droping 3 herbs with 1/1000 my exp bar though.
  6. Your game needs to make money. So im gonna give you a hint. I payed for WOW for 5 years straight, because it was a good game. I bought every expansion. Because it was a good game. I havent played in years… Because its not a good game. I have no issues paying for Good games. Make good Seasons… Ill buy the pass. Make good expansions… Ill buy those. Keep making Cosmetics… Ill pay someone else.
  7. You have a TEAM of programmers. If the entire community is saying you don’t have enough Stash space (A problem that EVERY version of Diablo has had) and your excuse is we need “time”! Those games had Years to iron things out… Yes they did… You were there… You fixed some of those problems… then you did it again. Let us be honest. You did it to SELL stash space… again. if you want money, make a good game.
  8. Your new season, for your brand new game… is a Gem that randomly spawns on an Elite. Is this a joke. Your idea of a “Season Theme” is a new Gem… that is going to have random stats… that must be inserted into “Color appropriate” gear… This is a joke… It has to be. Do better.
  9. I have 1 level 100. and a lvl 90… I have played D2 for 20+ years and have been going back because grinding for loot is fun. I played D3 off and on. No trading made it die for me. D4 has found a way to appeal to no one. My casual friends have already stopped playing. My Hardcore friends have already went back to Diablo 2 and POE. You made a game that appeals to No-one. The first 50 levels are fun and exciting. Because you have something to do… after that… Its 1% higher Vulnerability… and Higher Item level… No Target farming… No Trade channels to engage the community. Just Grind… Grind… Grind… for yourself. Cant farm for alts… because the other items don’t drop and will be too high level.

For the love of God… You can Make Diablo Great Again.

Stopped reading here!! Y’all non ARPG players need to stop making these forums toxic. Loot grind is LITERALLY the entire point of ARPGs. If you don’t like it, then go back to playing literally anything else. ARPG’s are not for you!!

You stopped reading… I guarantee I ARPG more than you.

If you read WHY its boring (listed below) Then you might not make stupid responses.

Na… you would. Nevermind.

your attention span must be really short if that was your takeaway from his actually well thought out post

See, this guy gets it!

If we pool all the “greatest minds” of our time and their money, we can :billed_cap:#makediablogreatagain!

:fist: Dey Took Er Jerbs!!!

While you make some valid points, acting like casuals are the only players that detest the renown grind (which doesn’t even take long, it’s just boring as hell and single-player MMORPG/Ubisoft garbage tasks that do not belong in an ARPG) is hilarious. They’re one of the least fun things to do in the game where once should be enough.

Also, comparing this to WoW is a pretty terrible comparison. I played WoW too, for six years (as if length really matters that much), but it was an entirely different genre. Diablo 4 is already trying to be this monstrous amalgamation of an ARPG and MMORPG, and it doesn’t actually excel at either, but we don’t need it leaning harder into the MMORPG side.

WoW was a subscription based model that worked because of how long it actually took to progress through most content, and by the time the majority had mined it all out, a new expansion was around the corner. This game isn’t making enough money to release a new expansion every three months, which is why “seasons” exist. They will never add the kind of content they need to add regularly that will drastically change the game from its current state.

Maybe, like what RoS did for D3 the first expansion will change things enough, but the game will never be “great” in the way you’re hoping. That ship has sailed.

False. I like to feel like my character is growing more powerful even if it’s .001%. People including myself can go days without changing gear high level.

At least in D3 I can cube gear and upgrade gems.

It could be so good… D3 was a much different game from its release Why the hell did they make the same mistakes again? I guess ill treat this like D3… But ill never spend another dime on this game.
My point with the WOW comparison, was to show players will pay for good content.

This Game could have been so good… It hurts my Heart.

Great profile name. I always love to see academic or literary references made in this side of things (cf. my own account).

While I would like to see the devs do an awful lot of the things you suggest, there is a much easier answer.

It’s far from perfect, but Path of Exile seems to be the game for you.

this dude wants to replay the campaign every single season :skull:

Diablo IV is a glorified mobile game that’s why loot has no value and there’s no iconic sets. The game was centered around a cosmetic store. This isn’t the first Diablo everyone quit after the first month it happened in Diablo 3 because of the real money auction house. This game needs a mass exodus like that one to save the franchise.
