Major Memory Leak – RAM + VRAM Escalation Ignored by Support (Crash ID Included)

I’ve submitted a detailed support ticket (ID: #104625352) documenting a dual memory leak in Diablo IV Season 8 — affecting both system RAM and VRAM.

  • RAM spikes to 15–20GB within minutes, even while idle at character select
  • VRAM creeps with each Town Portal or zone transition, eventually pushing 13–14GB
  • Memory is never released, even when logging out
  • Crashes occur after 15–30 minutes with Fenris dialog

Crash Report ID: FE41DC21-A321-47C4-8B87-09B56E50ABD7

Despite providing system specs, crash ID, and verified reproduction steps, Blizzard Support responded with a copy-paste guide and refused to escalate to QA or Engineering. I was told to submit this post here — so here it is.

I’m not the only one seeing this. There are dozens of reports on Reddit and the forums with the exact same issue. Please confirm whether this is being looked into.

Same problem here game is unplayable for me

Can confirm that this is making the game unplayable for more than a few minutes.

Issue is happening on ASUS ROG Ally as well.
I uninstalled, cleaned, then reinstalled again, and the game runs for a bit before it makes the whole system sluggish af.

I have been having this issue since the beginning of the season. I played all of last season without a single crash. I’ve even upgraded my pc since last season so running into this issue and only this issue in D4 is frustrating. I hope this is addressed soon.

I have the same issue for years. I have 32GB of RAM and after some time, game maxes it out and crashes.

My specs are,
CPU: AMD 5700X3D
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x16GB 3600MHz
GPU: RTX 5080

Willing to provide any additional info if necessary.

Same issue here. Started in Season 8 for me. Crashing roughly every 30-60 minutes and crashing straight to desktop with the application completely closing. Never had issues prior to Season 8. I’m running a 13900k, 4090, and 64GB of RAM.

Disabling RT has mitigated the issue for my wife. haven’t crashed again yet, but it was completely unplayable for her before with huge stuttering and crashing constantly. haven’t been able to play at all this season because of it.

I’m not facing crashes but fps drops alot and stuttering
Also no other game takes as much Ram or Vram like Diablo 4
After this update Diablo 4 is taking 15.5gb ram and 5gb Vram out of my system.
I’m using R5 3600, 3070 GPU, 16gb ram
It is NOT normal
I’m on Steam platform
Please do a hotfix or something as soon as possible.
It needs to be fixed.

Ive had similar issues, the season started out ok but as ive progressed into the end game its completely unplayable now. Constantly lagging and freezing and eventually a crash.

Also having these regular game crashes after usually 2-3 hours of play please fox

“Out of memory” issue here as well, and with 128GB of DDR5 ram, that shouldn’t be an issue one bit. Big bug in this season, and never had issues in others.

Never crashed in the past few seasons, or the first 40 hours of S8, but had two crashes yesterday, VRAM related (NVIDIA driver also crashed).

Is this why I’m experiencing random super long freezes every once in a while? Like once or twice a day while playing, the game freezes for a very long time, and then all of a sudden it works again. I’ve never had this happen in previous seasons.
