This is horrible. I can’t even get into the game because input doesn’t work. I’m on PS5. I’ve never played a game with this kind of issue. I thought this was a triple A title? This is so rage inducing I’m about ready to uninstall and try to sell my game on ebay. Of all bugs I have experienced, one that doesn’t allow you to log on, or sell, set things as junk or do anything else necessary to play the game is the worse. How is this even an issue?

I just had this happen to me, and I found a fix that worked on my Steam Deck.
-While in game, go to Options/Controls/Controller
-Go to the entry “Combine Interact & Basic Skills”, and uncheck it.
-You are then given the options to bind these separately. Bind “A” to each one, which which just toggles them back and forth.
-Then re enable “Combine Interact & Basic Skills” and bind it to “A”.
-Save Changes
This worked for me. Your mileage may vary

How did this patch pass certification on consoles? If any tester tried to walk using a controller they’d have seen a problem…
This is also happening when playing on the Asus ROG Ally. X/A buttons will randomly stop working in menus, inventory, dialogue. Buggy A.F.

Try this… On Xbox… While having your regular controller on, connect a 2nd controller. And now you don’t have to press the triggers to get the A button working. Still sucks tho, blizz wya?
Hiya, I brought an xbox elite series 2 and it was fine up until a few days ago where my game crashed and now i have to use the RT + A to get into the game.
Not happy at all since the price i paid for it. I did the two controller thing and it worked but they need to fix this asap

Issue is still going on in Dec 2023 … I play on PC and prefer to use the a wired XBOX controller, it works fine for every other game I have even some that say they have “limited” controller support.
Ill be able to play then as soon as a menu, text box, or anything of the sort pops up my (A) button magically stops working… trying to swap to the mouse doesn’t work unless I unplug the controller which defeats the purpose of using it in the first place…
The fact this has persisted for so long shows Blizzard does not give a crap about their customers … it is truly sad coming from an almost 2 decade fan.

This bug just happened for me as well i can’t even pick my character in the menu anymore even when i could i couldn’t equip items or even drop them but other parts of the menu worked fine like using paragon points
My wife and i are playing with xbox one. We have 2 tvs and 2 consoles, 2 accounts, 2 copies of diablo 4. All this being said it is endlessly infuriating that my wife (who otherwise isnt into video games) is having issues with the controls like this. Blizzard, get it together man you took our money and delivered a second rate product. And of course its not a problem on my console only my wife’s. She has used 2 different controllers and with her preferred controller A and X do not work in basically any menu, particularly inventory, so she can not drop items and she has lost out on several legendary items due to full inventory. On her backup controller, she can not use LB so she gets killed like that when she cant use potions.
You have to go to settings and re asign it were it ask to interact
The fact that this game has been out this long, and this bug STILL PERSISTS is absolutely ridiculous. I get working on things that the big names in the content creator side of the game tell you will help draw more players, but please tell me something, what good is drawing in new players when they can’t play the game?

Hello,
I found out that not all of these errors are caused by bad system settings or some bug… many are caused by objects that are placed on the character. Especially items that add points to the skill tree. I haven’t checked to see if I have this skill tree unlocked. Try removing all the items and see if there is a possibility of attacking. then add one item after another… All kinds of items do this (gloves, armor, necklace, boots …)
Just my 2 cents for those with PS5s… I have not had any significant issues with inputs so I wonder if it is a setting, item, or something of that sort.
Occasionally, I will get laggy input when marking multiple items as junk in a row.
Similarly, moving from zone to zone across the map on a horse can sometimes have significant input problems (cannot sprint even though i see the ability constantly being pressed and not on cooldown) for up to 4 seconds.
Played both wired and wireless.
