Maintain permanent object quality

I was thinking it would be awesome if they kept item quality as an item feature with all the perks we saw in Santification.
If you think about it, it would be an extra push to seek out item with a higher stat benefits or a +1 passive rank.
What do you think?

I’m confused. Are you talking about quality gained from Masterworking? Because that’s staying. Yes you can get additional quality through Sanctifying that adds on top of the MWing.

However you mention item quality with the perks of sanctification. So you just mean the act of sanctifying then?

While you can get item ranks from sanctifying I don’t think, if sanctifying goes away, they will keep it regardless.

No, let me explain.
As you well know, Sanctification can give you additional quality levels for your item.
Now, wouldn’t it be nice if when you drop an item, it had an intrinsic quality level that gave you the benefits you get with Sanctification? That is, if you drop an item that already has 25 quality and you reach 50 with the blacksmith, you’ll get a substantial increase in stats and can get +1 to passive levels. I find this a nice incentive to farm higher-quality items, although I imagine it could use some tweaking.

Ah I see what you mean. So when an item drops it can drop with an additional 1-25 quality before you even go to the blacksmith to add more.

Well if they go through with this then you have the same issue people have with finding 2-4 GA Ancestral items, but you’ve added another layer on top of it. So now people will be farming for 25 quality 4 GA items. More needles in the haystack.

Yup. I hate seeing +1 item quality. It should always be +25 on ilvl 800 items. Maybe +20 on 750.

The issue then becomes - if that were added for regular drops, why not just bake it in to the item ilvl anyways?

My problem has always been not showing the decimal value on +skills. I seriously hope the expansion addresses +skills properly.

Not necessarily, because superior item quality still increases your stats, and you don’t strictly need more GAs (Greater Affixes) to have a good item.

For instance, if a legendary drops with one GA but high item quality, you certainly won’t have the same stats as a multi-GA item, but you still get an item with all its stats boosted.

As I said, it’s something that could be improved. I’d suggest that instead of having a scale from 5 to 25, they could make it 5 to 15 to make the RNG more acceptable.

They won’t do it though because having items drop with random quality, while it would be neat at first, creates gear fatigue. If a piece of gear can drop from between 1 and 25 (even if in multiples of 5 or whatever) it becomes “unacceptable” to take anything less than a random 25. That’s just adding to the already burning, problematic GA fire.

That’s why I say it’s something they can improve on, and it doesn’t have to be the same.
That is, using the idea and implementing it more optimally.

I don’t think anyone will be able to come up with a way if you can’t. They’re just as human and limited as you.

Exactly this. People are already impatiently waiting for the loot filter to come with the expansion, and we only have 4 affixes on gear. This would essentially add another affix to pay attention to.

Not to mention the power it adds in general. I would prefer they get away from stat bloating with things like quality myself, but I know that won’t happen with the changes to MW now.
