[Main Thread] Game Crashes During Play - June 2023

Try to cap the FPS to 60 max, I did that and now can play normally. Before that I had blue screen or black screen crashes every 15 minutes.
Hope it helps

The codes are meant to be shared with support in a ticket.
No one here can help you with them.

The weird thing is that I crash and get fenris errors with my necro, but with rogue there are no crashes…
Edit: Also crashed with rogue. So the latest patch broke the game (again!!!) for me.

Ugh… Back to random crashing again.
Nothing changed on my end.

I have had continual crashes since the patch on June 6th. I played both the betas with zero crashes and then played the early access without any issues. Since the patch on June 6th that kicked me out of the game my client will now crash every 15 seconds - 10 minutes. I have tried the following to remedy without any success:

  1. Repair game files
  2. Load the latest Nvidia driver
  3. Load the beta driver Hotfix Driver Version 536.09
  4. Load driver 531.68
  5. Remove the 4k Texture install
  6. Flash bios with the latest version
  7. Switch to XMP I instead of the II I was running
  8. Switch to manual clock and underclock RAM from 5200->4000
  9. Undervolt the GPU from 50-90% max power without succes
  10. Underclock GPU
  11. Disable DLSS
  12. Disable Nvidia Reflex
  13. Set DisableChromaEffects = 1
  14. Completely uninstall and reinstall the game
  15. Set graphics to medium and FPS foreground + background to 40/40 and 60/60 FPS
  16. Unplugged my second monitor and tried with a single monitor
  17. Unplugged my Razer mouse and tried basic wired mouse
  18. Unplugged my K100 and tried a basic keyboard
  19. Deleted all the nvidia DLSS .dlls in the D4 directory and started the game
  20. Tried enabling GPU scheduling in Win 10
At this point I see nothing left to try and am deeply disappointed in my experience with this game since the release. I’ve spent so much time troubleshooting
with no luck that its apparent this is something Blizzard needs to address, fix and make right for all their customers.
    Specs:
    CPU: i-13600K
    GPU - PNY 4090 RTX
    RAM: 64 GB G.Skill
    OS: Windows 10 Pro

So yesterday I was able to play for 3 hours and finally finished act 1, no crash. But today I was on for an hour and again, another fenris crash. So pretty much the crash’s ain’t as frequent as before but its still crashing…

An option worth trying is to rollback GPUdriver (in my case to 532.03) and then update it back to latest one. Worked for me twice, but assuming that I have to do it after each D4 update sound like terrible workaround

So, it finally happened.
Lost my level 48 hc character due to a crash.

Logged in and was greeted with the Hall of Fame screen.

These issues need to be fixed. It is affecting too wide a range of setups to be simply an issue on our end. I have tried, literally, every single “home fix” there is out there.

I decided to start another character, but the game crashed on start-up.

Has anyone tried running it off of a regular HDD instead of an SSD?

im pretty sure youre right, i crash way less late night when there are fewer players. most crashes happen during peak hours and in high density areas like kyovashad. i also never crash during the main campaign quests/dungeons unless im in a big town.

I just replace my old PC, which recently got a black screen and hung while playing Diablo 4.
With the new one, I got error, and the game shut down automatically

Before the beta i bought a 3070 used, for cheap. I played D4 with my older components and had issues when the fullscreen option was removed. Since then i upgraded just before release and every single item was replaced BUT the 3070 and still have similar issues.

This tells me that Diablo IV has issues with my specific Video card since all other games work flawless

PS5 Game crashes on Account selection screen

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 as I saw someone else had done that and apparently it worked for them. This means that I did not have GeForce Experience or any Razer software installed at all.

It had zero effect. This has nothing to do with any software on our systems.
We are just going insane trying out every single “fix” we see posted, but end up with the same result. Crash.

Cannot even log into the game without the app freezing causing me to reboot to us PC…

Just wanted to post a few of my Crash Codes here. Cannot play the game since launch, it crashes so many times, sometimes 30 seconds after start, sometimes I can play for an hours. Tried most of the things suggested in this thread but so far without success. Never had any problems with the previous Betas, and other games run without issue.

My System:
Ryzen 5900x CPU
Nvidia 4090 GPU
32 GB RAM

Fenris Codes:

So many people have posted countless Crash Codes here. I really would like someone from Tech Support to let us know what they think is going on. They at least must have some sort of Idea what’s leading to those crashes.

I have limited my MAX Framerate to 65FPS and been able to play - once a day - for the last 3 days - for about 20 minutes each time - before the game crashes out to the desktop.

I have also played with the background FPS Minimum Value set higher, and it seems to get more stable the closer to the MAX Framerate you get it, to a point…

This might be Video Card Dependent, so I won’t say how close I set mine on my Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ 6950XT, but they are CLOSE, and I can get one 20 minute session in a day before the game crashes out to the Desktop.

Mind you, I’m also on a Ryzen 9 5950X with 128GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR4 @ 3200MHz

After a full hour of working with my nephew, we managed to help his issue of the game locking up on his EVGA 3080 and AMD CPU based system:

Just wanting to share the steps and conclusion. Maybe some of it will help some of you. Will update if anything more develops or he continues to have issues.

Thanks,
