Love how game difficulty is just cc

Kinda dumb nothing like moving to higher difficulty just to include enemy cc after enemy cc. Great mechanic if I was a lazy game developer who didn’t have time to put into it.

It is artifical difficulty for sure.

EDIT It also makes unstoppable mandatory and it is difficult for classes besides Barbarian and Druid to keep it up reliably.

Even most nightmare sigils just add more CC and AOE.

Creativity at its best.

There’s nothing more joyful and entertaining than getting feared nearly 2 screens away from the fight…

CC and 1 shot chest skeletons are my favorite!

Evade should give unstoppable

Fights such as a Necromancer without good mobility and even worst with squishy skeletons that stay in CC to get one shotted by an AoE :man_shrugging:t5:

Explain artificial difficulty please.

Also, unstoppable is easy to get on rogue as well.

going from my 100% unstoppable uptime druid to an alt rogue I realized how bad cc is. shadowstep is good for breaking cc but you actually get frozen or stunned like 10 times during a NMD

It means that using excessive cc and making unstoppable completely mandatory, it has been used as a way to increase difficulty instead of doing so with scaling, mob density, and modifiers. It’s a shortcut.

Fearing an undead skeleton is just about the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen in any fantasy game. In warhammer undead are “immune to psychology” ie they don’t get scared or demoralized. That actually makes sense, as I don’t see them as being truly sentient.

Game currently seems to be all about making different status effects happen. No surprise then that the hardest thing on the other end is being affected by status changes.

It’s weird but I haven’t got to the point where it’s really annoying. I’m kind of hoping they don’t make chain cc the deadliest thing in the game though, I mean that’s the entire reason I could never enjoy pvp in wow, losing control of your character is just poor gameplay. IMO.

Not really a description of artificial (aka fake) difficulty. Why woudl mob density not equal artificial difficulty.

Please try again.

Yeah this mentality seems weird. Peeps can’t deal with cc and get salty about it therefore its “artificial”, it is a direct increase in difficulty, requiring you to avoid more $hit at the risk of dying or being chained.

Scaling is already there as you will be oneshot at higher nm dungeons, and density can directly affect the amount of cc you have to deal with

Unimaginative design team. D4 follows the same formula that D3 used for difficulty. Elite packs throw a bunch of CC and puddles of exploding stuff on the ground.

There is no originality in D4. It’s all old ideas, so you have to nail the execution, which D4 fails to do. D4 stacks up poorly to it’s competitors on the market. It’s like they didn’t even try to make an effort because they knew it would sell on marketing and branding alone.

TBH the WORST affix to a NM i have come across so far was resource drain. I just kill those sigil right away.

Then enlighten us all on the true definition of artificial difficulty so you can correct us all to think as you do, so we can all be bound together with the ultimate truth. Don’t just make a vague statement and then don’t define your own parameters.

That’s literally all it amounts to. Either you can survive being chain stunned/frozen/rooted or you can’t.

Exactly. In fact it’s not gameplay at all since that’s exactly the point of CC, to take away your ability to act in game. It’s the equivalent of jerking someones controller cord out of the console.

I have no idea how anyone ever thought CC was going to be a positive aspect of gaming but it goes waaaay further back than Diablo, I remember hating it in Dark Age of Camelot as well.

Many of us don’t have the tools to do that. My necro hads a dodge. I don’t have a single movement skill. If it’s intended, then they need to provide all of us with the tools to avoid more things. Dodge is not enough. We all get dodge, and all other classes get mobility skills.
