Lord of Hatred... refund has been issued

I can’t tell if Blizzard developers are just role playing as developers… or if they are actually serious about the direction of this game. I’ve played since OG launch, since prior to ‘seasons’ and the hot garbage that has taken place each patch to try and ‘finish’ a game that still doesn’t feature the boss it’s named for… in any capacity.

No big deal though, right? The game wasn’t finished in season 12, so why not COMPLETELY REVAMP the game for season 13? Who needs progression in their progression-based video game? Eternal doesn’t mean forever… you know.

It’s 2026 and Blizzard still hasn’t figured out where they lost the plot as a company. I logged in on Expansion day. Here’s what I encountered:

  1. Gear aspects are different. Not just ‘tuned’ different, but completely changed. In place on current items. (means I can’t actually do a rotation or a build).
  2. Paragon boards are straight up locked behind another leveling slog (who needs to level again? I already leveled to 100 once).
  3. Abilities were unspent and completely changed. This wouldn’t be so bad if I could just go spend some points and get back to slaying monsters.
  4. Instead I am staring at characters who can’t even use a pre-saved loadout… because they are deleted too. What if I just go spend some points and save new ones? Nope… can’t swap between them, equipping a loadout button is gray.

Basically, the eternal characters I have spent the last two+ years playing, the exact same way I was playing them at launch, are now completely trash. No big deal right? Let’s check out the new warlock class. Can’t spend in anything but basic skills til level 5… despite having 12 skill points to start with. Am I really supposed to split 12 points between 5 basic skills and start slaying enemies?

Or dump 12 into 1 basic skill and be an ungeared button spammer for 5 levels? It’s almost like you guys don’t know how to design a diablo game anymore. New zones? Who cares. New classes? Old classes were fine… just like in Wow.

Lord of Hatred was a faster refund than Legion. No thanks. Diablo 4 has been uninstalled. No point in playing anymore, all my progression was erased.

In a progression-based video game.

On eternal characters.

Pretty sure my warlock said “level 3” to implement core skills. It’s like… you run out to the helltide, hit two monsters on the head… you’re level 3.

You are absolutely correct. You literally hit level 3 and it unlocks the core skills.

As in World of Warcraft: Legion expansion?

This actually feels like a great expansion compared to the last. You invest time into building your characters and the progression feels good. Some people just want everything given to them but that’s how you lose your player base by making the game give you everything at once. Learn to enjoy the new pacing and the journey of crafting your character and understanding the new systems.

Are you sill going to hang out on the D4 forum? We have several who have “uninstalled” on the forum.

This seems like a lot of extreme nit picking about a mode that isn’t separate and isolated from the rest of the game. Eternal will always be affected by everything as the game continues to evolve. This is an online only live service game like an mmo and we all know they change a LOT during the years.

so you are doing a shocked pikachu face because a lot of stuff changed with the expansion?

not like one could have known this beforehand. Anyways, good luck wanderer - enjoy whatever it is you are playing. Avoid live service games tho.
