Every Sorc running shards is dumb, because there is only 1 option to compete with the other classes.
It’s like a million clones running around like sheep that copied the same online guide.
Every build, of every element should be viable.
Like it was in the beta before the class was gutted.

I started out as mostly Chain Lightning Sorc up to level 50-something. I experimented with Hydra, Frozen Orb, Ice Shards, Incinerate, Fireball, and Charged bolt on my way there. By 60 I permanently switched to shards. I haven’t yet looked at any online guides/videos when I made that change. Why did I switch? Because it naturally made so much sense. Just from reading the descriptions, freeze stuff, shoot shards at frozen stuff. It wasn’t until around 75 that I first looked at a guide and by then it was only to fix my paragon board and itemization. Just from a gameplay perspective - as in before one starts looking at damage numbers - Ice Shards is straightforward.
So rather than thinking it’s a million Sorc clones running off of the same guide, I’d rather like to think it was a natural conclusion that many Sorcs came to after playing with different builds on the way to WT4.
Exactly my point, that there is only one choice without any build variety because everything else feels like trash in comparison. Ice shards or any version of ice shards feels less trash than the rest of the builds.
Sorc has many issues that need to be fixed and having one viable build that can slightly compete with the other classes multiple viable builds doesn’t mean the sorc is in an okay spot.
The dumbest thing I hear in these forums especially the general discussion forum, reddit, YouTube, etc , is that Sorc is fine and even OP and everybody just looks at the one viable build while ignoring the rest is trash.
Mostly Barb and Druid mains.
Or they point out to that Lilith kill that involved a very specific build for Lilith only with weapon switching and things that were not meant to be used in that way and will likely be fixed.

The exact reason why my team makes fun of me for trying new builds or my favorite the Frozen Orb during NM’s. I hate following guides and then not knowing why my build is actually multiplying damage, it takes the fun out of it for me but then again im left wondering why i dont hit as hard 
And there Is another problem with sorc on a design level. That becouse of this shinnanigans of doing damage during CC Windows any build that don’t have/can’t control cc application Will soon start to fall’ over the others “meta build” . Honestly forme has never been about survivabilty or either damage those are things that can be fixed really Easy( if blizzard woke up some day) but i have a fondamental hate twords the design choiche of doing damage during cc Windows and nothing outside make any build that don’t relay on cc’s or haven’t control over the cc application feel like your are playing against the game and it’s the game that Is telling you how you should play.
The only satisfying dps build is ice shards tbh, the rest are all not very fun to play atm. Let’s wait for season 3, meanwhile, we can’t really do anything besides playing a waiting game with the devs.

It’s an ok playstyle only if you have Raiment, otherwise, it’s very clunky.
