Nah. I already have answered that multiple times and you fill in the blanks with blanket statements no one but you inserted to justify your own uncertain bias.
You haven’t changed my mind nor have you offered any valid reason to its existence. Trolling attempts don’t work in a logical argument on their own. As a matter of fact, it generally means you are losing your argument when it’s all you can resort to.
Imagine this, a board room meeting with devs and staff - Whats the quickest route to get the game to launch with the least amount of issues?
Lets level scale all the mobs in the game
This way, we don’t have to balance each zone, each area, each dungeon - we can just write a spreadsheet with all the data per level and just go with it.
Without level scaling, the entire map would have to be so much larger, would have to have a lot more dungeons too, it would literally add so much more workload and this is why level scaling was chosen, I don’t like it, most don’t - but it was the quickest and most effective way to launch.
I haven’t given you explanations for why the game would improve without it, but you’ve seemingly ignored my points about how it doesn’t solve anything, either, including your points about content diversity at the endgame.
In general, I think you’re a pretty reasonable guy but you’re coming off as unreasonable in this thread.
You really haven’t though. For reasons unknown to me - probably because I’m a bit drunk - I’ve read through this entire thread and you still haven’t explained how the removal of level scaling would benefit Diablo 4.
Sure I have, go ahead and read up 40 posts if you’d like. I’m not going to copy and paste everyone again. And if you’re going to defend it too than add some clarification as to why instead of just blindly defending it.
Than it nullifies Whispers of the dead, Legions and general exploring of the world.
Here is a different suggestion if you want to blast enemies just lower your world tier at the statue of Inarius.
Anyone defending scaling has never been thru multiple WoW expansions or played d3. I just logged into my demon hunter on d3 he has 1.2 million life and crits for 50 trillion. At least in higher level greater rifts you would get increased drop rate for legendaries and SET ITEMS (crazy idea right). Higher level NMD grant nothing besides glyph exp (I maxed 6 before hitting 100) and bragging rights.
Whole game is built on scaling and they wont change it except for maybe one day chopping all the numbers in half like they did WoW. At least give me more unique items. I WANT LOOT
Just because something has been added into a game doesn’t mean it’s good for the game. But this explains so much about your level of understanding about game design. This shows that you’re either unwilling to, or incapable of, considering anyone’s argument that doesn’t agree with your mindset.
Countless people have.
Apples versus zebras.
Oh look, resorting to insults again. I notice you’ve failed to answer any of the questions I presented, instead resorting to insults. Because insults is all you have.
i 've seen a lot of players here have complained how hard leveling in poe while in reality it is the easiest compare here. scaling does affect u and if u are unlucky in loot it will be a huge wall.
"
Blockquote
Level scaling does not affect you before you reach level 50. You can be using the worst gear possible and still faceroll the storymode. "
^ that is false.
the true purpose of playing the game is to have fun and challenge yourself. there is no challenge and there is no fun. u can easily override the challenge by changing back to easiest brainded tier while leveling and get gear then change back to higher tier level. it is just pure lazy design for the devs. level scaling in this game was the most horrible experience and this will be my last diablo game. even right now im forcing myself to play this game and trying to break through the horrendous boredom in leveling a new character again. It is just the worst experience. lvl 100 feels like a gold grinder right now and nothing more. 5 more days till the new season and it will be fun to see new fire in this forum lol, also i don’t think i’ll have motivation to play it in more than 1 week. there is just no interesting things in there, may be b/c their new mechanic is too similar from another game.
“It lets players do content and dungeons where they want.”
You should be able to do the content and dungeons you want to do regardless. What is preventing you otherwise?
“It keeps enemies at your level so you’re always getting optimal exp.”
You could still achieve the same xp without scaling. Blizzard could implement this through difficulty TIERS itself. Nightmare dungeons and helltides already have xp buffs regardless.
“It makes grouping with differing level players more engaging and fun.”
So that a level 55 can stomp all the monsters for a level 21 just like in all previous games?
I have countered each of these justifications in this thread:
I don’t know, man. If something like level scaling is so easily refuted, I don’t think it’s as big of a benefit as you’re making it out to be. When you’re uprooting a core tenet of your game (I.E. leveling) and replacing it with something else, that something else should have benefits so large that they are impossible to ignore.
Nothing you’ve said provides anything of the sort.
It lets you do the content and dungeons you want and have it be an appropriate level of challenge and reward for you. If Fractured Peaks was hard-coded to be a level 10-20 zone, yes, you physically could still go play there at level 80, nothing is preventing you, but I think you understand why someone wouldn’t actually want to, right?
Bingo right here. Use the obvious skills that work because the overall skill tree was half thought out and isn’t balanced whatsoever. The central focus is on paragon/glyphs over skill tree and of course items which is spam dungeons to get better stats on the same gear.
But I can do that on my rogue in d4. I can run thru a normal dungeon and 1 shot everything and get the same loot from a nmd 100 which takes way more time. They just need to calm down the scaling it’s too much.
Also, running noobs thru low level content at godly speeds was always the appeal of Diablo 2. That’s what geared high level players would do for fun when bored…
Equating anything in the game to Helltides, world bosses, legion events or whisper cache as a defense of level scaling because you can mow them down is just an uninformed comment a single teleporting suppressed shaman or goatman crit is exponentially harder than anything the above world can produce.
A solution would be break the game into 3 different phases (normal, nightmare hell) like all the other games in the series move away from this mmolite crap give us the zones as acts in the campaign and force linear playthrough and make mob scaling static cap of 85 for normal , 103 for elite and 110 for bosses to zone only change the mob stats to reflect level difficulty.
You can do that after the story with WT3-WT4 and NM dungeons.
Want more of a challenge leveling up? Take off half your gear. It’s not level scalings fault.
I just leveled a sorc to 63 in story mode solo. Never once did level scaling cause an issue, You know why? Because level scaling isn’t a problem in diablo 4.
“It keeps enemies at your level so you’re always getting optimal exp.”
You could still achieve the same xp without scaling. Blizzard could implement this through difficulty TIERS itself. Nightmare dungeons and helltides already have xp buffs regardless.
You want some combination of D2 and D3.
Take from D2 the monster area level, and from D3 as you scale up in Torment all monsters become more difficult however in return you get more exp, gold, improved chances to score high tier loot. (Improving your loot table).
Playing lower torment levels doesn’t prevent you from scoring high loot, just reduce the chances of finding it?
