Update – Black Screen Issue Still Not Fixed
Hey everyone,
After spending over 3 full days testing everything imaginable, I wanted to give you all a quick update. Unfortunately, none of the methods I tried fully resolved the black screen issue after teleporting — they only delayed the inevitable crash.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
VRAM OC enabled/disabled (temporary stability, then crash returned)- Played on both low/medium/high settings – all tested
- Performed in-game stress test & hardware monitoring (no overheating, no thermal throttling)
- Disabled OneDrive, Voice Chat, Discord overlays, and even tried safe mode
- Played in Windowed Mode
- Used both keyboard & PS5 controller → black screen only happened while using controller
- AMD Adrenaline: Switched between Performance, Default, Custom profiles
- Resizable BAR: tested ON and OFF
- Windows Power Plan: set to max performance
- Verified game files, updated drivers, clean system, monitored logs
At one point, the game ran flawlessly for 40+ minutes — only to crash again when I rejoined a friend’s party or used a controller for long enough.
My guess: The core issue seems to be a conflict between AMD GPUs and controller input during teleportation/asset streaming. Based on Fenris logs and personal tests, the crash is triggered when VRAM usage spikes near 11.8–12 GB and the controller is actively in use.
When I switched to keyboard/mouse only — the crash didn’t happen for hours. This shouldn’t be acceptable behavior in a AAA title in 2025.
If this helps anyone, I’d be happy. But at this point, we need Blizzard to directly acknowledge the issue. I’m still saving and reviewing logs after every crash, so if anyone wants to compare/debug, just let me know.
