i remember destiny 2 had the same issues in the beginning but bungie was able to fix it pretty fast. it has something to do with transition and loading other players. huge world without loading screens is actually not true. the game has alot of clusters and each loads in the background and conenct new players.
however i have the same issue and it really destroys any immersion. the lag needs to be fixed with highest priority.

Well I guess I wasn’t completely right before.
Yeah, the lag I had before was because my PC couldn’t handle the game, and it was constant.
But now on my new beast where I have 150fps+ constantly, i’m getting 1.6s + latency with the server and rubber-banding, freezing, and dying without control of my character. It’s been gradually getting worse all morning (the last 2 hours), but the last 15 minutes, it’s just awful and unplayable.
That’s definitely a server issue. I’m guessing they really can’t handle the load.

There is no lag that I noticed, are you sure you’re talking about network lag? Sound like you talk about computer graphic lag.
Post your computer specs please.
Actually, I suggested looking at their ISP or modem/router, or both. The anecdote about me not having experienced lag was to emphasize that not everyone has lag issues, and is an indicator that it is likely something outside the game. However, I could be wrong.
It was great during pre-release, but now I’m getting a whole lot of rubber-banding. It’s super-annoying, and probably not my rtx 4080 struggling with vram… Servers are at capacity and we can tell.
I’m seeing lag during peak playtimes but none in the off hours. I also see some input lag and incoming damage from the mobs and then the animation. I have a good PC and internet to play this and other games at the same time. I think they have some online server crowding to deal with. A little optimization will go a long way. Still a positive release overall. I’m sure things will improve soon.

If the specs are the bare minimum (8GB RAM) and your settings are on low, the specs are irrelevant. The game should “just work”. If the minimum spec is 32GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce® RTX 4090 then Blizzard would have this as the minimum spec.
you do know to have your mouse far away from where you’re at with your mount to get full speed right…
Seems like your internet needs upgrading.
Disable HD assets in bnet launcher and disable cross play/comm in game. yw.
same this thing is ridiculous
“I dont experience thing so the thing doesn’t happen”
What are you a f*cking moron?

some friends tell me they have minor annoying issues… im finding the game impossible to play, yet its the only game i want to play. its frustrating to say the least. i have a wired fiber connection and no issues with any other game.

Yup, lots of rubber banding going on lately. And I’m not willing to believe it’s my ISP, as I read this all the time on the forums. This happens to probably be one of the busiest server times for the game.

This has happened to me twice right before killing a dungeon boss. I’m so frustrated.

It’s not the ISP. It’s the servers. I have an 11th gen i9, 3070TI and 64gb ram on a 2TB NVME with a wired 1GB connection and I’ve been getting rubber bands the last hour or so. I have capped my FPS, made sure my temps were good, all drivers up to date. It’s 100% on Blizzard.
No other game on my PC gives me performance issues but D4. I assume whenever the lag gets this bad it’s because they are live patching but who the hell knows anymore.
if you’re on PC turn off cross play in the options. Since there’s more console players this aleviates a lot of lag. You will see a lot less players if you are fine with that.
It’s been better tonight, fwiw.
Step 1. From the launcher, click the gear next to Diablo 4’s play button and select game settings, then select modify install, and select modify install again, then tic and disable 'High resolution assets).
Step 2. From the character selection screen disable Cross-play/comm
Step 3. Profit.
