Killed in PvP without being marked for blood

I was riding through Fields of Hatred to open the portal in Azluuda when a lvl 100 rode up and killed me. I was not marked for blood.

This has been an issue since launch. Either fix it, or start new characters with the PvP zone teleports open and the associated rep. I don’t PvP and I don’t welcome getting ganked to try to open all the teleport points.

You dont have to be marked for blood to be attacked. You do have to mark yourself for blood to attack others.

That’s a remarkably stupid design. What’s the purpose of Marked for Blood if I can be attacked irrespective of whether I’m marked? To make it even easier for sociopaths to know who to gank?
