Is Werewolf Shapeshifting damage bugged?

I’m not a math guy by any means, but maybe it would explain why my damage is abysmal with Shred.

I mean, it’s probably because I’m terrible, really, but I can at least try to blame it on something else!

Shred is only meant for leveling. It is the lowest dmg skill and it’s only use is self healing without potions. for example;

  • tornado has legendary aspect that (at minimum) triples its damage to single target
  • Lightning Storm has unique that almost doubles it’s damage (multiplier depens on your crit chance, adds 0% with 0 crith chance and 100% at 100% crit chance)
  • landslide has legendary aspect that just doubles it’s damage

and what has shred? aspect for additional 30% if you manage to crit. nothing else. and its unplayable for endgame because of not only low damage, but also having to be melee and even with full tank build every elite oneshots you.

Just dont play it, blizzard abandoned shred even before season 1. It was only playable in season 1 because lightning crit aspect was bugged and could crit itself doing 5x more damage than original shred crit. And with that bug it was still doing less damage than tornado without bugs XDDD

Pulverize does not fare any better. Melee Druid overall is just for kicks, nothing serious. I am using said build and can clear Pit 20 without Masterworking, albeit just barely. Even then, my Wolf/Raven combo is doing most of the heavy lifting.

and also i think blizzard just cant straight up buff werewolf skills because of tempest roar combination that could yet again buff tornado, which they very hard try to keep down.

blizz just needs to introduce new druid aspect, rework shepherd and heavily buff toxic claws combination because that also is super useless passive. rabbies deal no damage as well. Should be buffed or reworked. And without some kind of micro unstopability shred (as the only melee druid build) will still be unplayable even if it had damage buffs.

Just don’t play it. What a depressing remark to read.

With what I’ve been able to put together so far, I’ve got a build that is so fast that I have to double back for loot. It basically teleports across maps from pack to pack, and I can barely blink because I might miss something.

It’s fun, it’s fast, but the overall damage is abysmal. Single target damage is a joke, bossing is nearly impossible, and even the Hellborne max threat enemies have been a challenge because I don’t immediately blow them up.

It’s incredibly disheartening to have this build with the playstyle I want but nothing to compliment it. Even putting it together in the first place was damn near impossible until they made the change to Aspect of the Unsatiated.

I’ll have to wait 10 more seasons for them to maybe put out an aspect that work with the build, or for them to break something so I can exploit it for a bit. Until then… Just don’t play it…

With that mindset nothing will ever get fixed.

What are your skills & glyphs? I’m also running a melee hybrid, and Helltide at least is relatively easy. The only thing that gives me trouble is the summoned event boss. The ones that spawn at maximum irritation are fine.

i was playing shred in season 1 like a madman, thinking that actually there is some way to deal any damage, but believe me, math just doesnt add up. I waited till season 4 to play this game again and i again tested shred, but it is still trash build.

Shapeshifting is trash because bestial rampage requires you to stay in a given form for 2 seconds, instead of just shapeshift. You’re better off just picking nature’s key and boosting free landslide casts that can benefit from thunderstruck than actually investing in shred.

Main problem of shred is that it cannot be STORM skill so it cannot benefit from Thunderstruck, which is the only reason why werenado or nature’s key LS builds do any damage. (it is just free double the dmg on top of their legendary aspects that also do it)

Blizzards knows the issue with shred, but they don’t care. They consider it a leveling build and I have no idea how we can change their mindset.
