Obviously not, Would not buy an expansion for D4 for as less as $5.
But thats from someone who has played in the golden age of ARPG’s. Now if you havent played actual good games and you have only been exposed to modern gaming then it might give some value to you.

I just bought the ultimate edition. I saw a reddit post that with the 3000 platinum that comes with it and the 700 that you earn each season, you’ll be set paying for 10 seasons.
I just play the season, earn the rewards, and retire until the next season.
I would have spent that amount on my weekly outing to the brewhouse, so not a big deal.
It really depends where you live and how much you are getting out of it.
If it costs the same as a lunch for you, I’d say go for it.
If you live somewhere the game costs a week of groceries, skip it.
If you are between the two like me, wait for a month at it should be on sales for 50% off

Too many ARPG games are doing a rework/relaunch this year. Diablo 4 has 2.0 + Expansion, New World has the relaunch coming up on the 15th of October and then you have the long awaited POE2 coming in November. I think most people will leave Diablo 4 by November anyway because I personally don’t think Blizzard went the right way with redoing the whole game at one time.
What baffles me is that VoH base costs as much as I paid for d4 and 90% less content. Then for 40 bucks in eu I can buy 80 cans of dark beer 7.5% alc. I’ll wait for black friday… I bought d4 in s3 and didn’t missed out anything, same now. Maybe I’m a cheap rational bastard…

totally not worth it, blizzards nowadays are bcoming a money grubbers, look how they destroyed COD. just 1 class , some new map, and the return of NPC teammates to justify that amount? seriously dont be so greedy blizzard.
Where do you get the 700 Plat per season? I do not think you get that much from the Battle Pass, they prefer to give you stupid cosmetics and irrelevant stuff on a Battle Pass so it is what they consider to be profitable
That is why I will never pay for another COD game ever. The game will NEVER be as good as it once was and now that MIcrosoft is in the picture, it can only get worse.
I paid $70 for D4 and $40 for VoH.
Is 100hrs+ of gameplay (even if just played once) worth $40?
Yes.
but by doing so u are just encouraging blizzard to be even more greedier.

Definetely, and honestly, there’s new content every seasons, so you basically get all of that for free after the xpac, until the next xpac, that you will have to pay
So, its definetely a lot of content, if you count everything for your 40$
Got the reduced price offer (euro not usd)
EDIT: To Avalon: to be more precise it was €52 with VAT included.
Let’s see - play a game for 12 months for free, then pay the company $40 to play for another year.
So a year worth of Dev time and server maintenance for $40.
I’d say that’s one hell of a deal.
Any other purchases are absolutely voluntary.
I’d say anything that averages $5/month or less is worth it for server costs alone.

It’s a very personal thing… To me, hundreds of hours into a game, $40 is indeed worth it for more content. I may even buy the Pass this season.
I can see some people leaving D4 in November, I can also see them coming back for S7. I don’t know of anyone personally who just plays 1 game, plays nothing else, and does this for years on end. Also have to remember it’s paid access to PoE 2 in November. They haven’t discussed the prices yet though. Which I have no doubt will turn off some potential customers, who will just wait for it to release and play the free version.
While I can agree Blizzards execution of all the reworks plus the expansion on top of it was clunky to say the least, if the game continues to get better, people won’t care in another year or more. Oh sure people will remember it was bad in the beginning, just like they do with D3, but ultimately those who play the game (the majority of the player base) won’t honestly care.
It is somewhere around there, you pay about 1000 Plat to get the BP and after completion you are down somewhere around 300 plat on your total.

u forgot bout the battlepass and other various cosmetics they been selling? noone mind paying $40 for a full game, but a dlc with so little new stuffs also cost $40?? I cant imagine how much they going to start charge for D5 in the future? minimum $100 and for the rich can buy the super premium edition for only $300
You do get 700 plat per battlepass.
Used to be 666 then people complained and they made it 700.
So all battlepass cosmetics+emotes end up costing $3/season.

I didn’t forget. That’s why I said everything else is optional.
If you want to go the route with least amount of money while always being on the latest and greatest version of the game , a year of gameplay will cost you whatever the expansion costs - $40.
