Since diablo 2 the point has basically always been to play other toons.
Why did you farm runes/gear in d2? You did it inorder to make your alts stronger and have a faster progression. Because by the time that character got those items he/she was already maxed and at the end of the game.
Imo d4 should have had a similar build. I dont play arpgs for 1 toon, thats what a real mmo is for. Especially not a arpg where both the gameplay and leveling are both extremely slow.
POE ( which i dont really enjoy) might have a slow leveling process too, however its gameplay is easily 5x faster than D4 currently.
I’m not sure what you are getting at. I knew Sorcerer and Barbarian weren’t for me by level 25-30. That’s about 5-6 hours for a normal person.
We’ll have to disagree on the rest. I feel reaching maximum level in current D4 should require some dedication to your character and 60-80h over 3 months feels just fine.
If they ever add more progression beyond 100, they will obviously need to tune 1-100 again.
For now, I’ll assume the coming density buff will improve XP rate by around 10-15% (I’m conservative here, could be more) which will help some people some more.
Let’s keep in mind level 100 is not required unless you absolutely want to kill the pinnacle boss and clear NM100 which are two things NOT designed to be done by common dad with 3 kids playing 3h a week. That’s just how it is.
Again, if they add more stuff to do beyond 100, they will tune down the requiremdnts for Uber Lilith and NM100, same logic. They will continuously try to keep “doing everything a season has to offer” to a 50-80h bracket (which I believe they already said).
They don’t want you at max level in 10-20h like D3, so get used to it.
It’s an eternal struggle for devs to balance it between “normal”, superior to normal and hardcore players.
If you ask me, they should tune it to the “superior normal” because if you tune for either normal or hardcore, you will lose the other group instantly.
60-80h feels superior normal, so I’m ok with it considering for most people, reaching lvl 80 is already good enough.
I probably won’t make it to 100 because of BG3 and PoE new league, but that’s fine, I enjoyed my melee sever necromancer run.
Yes, that’s true except for one thing. Many casuals look up and listen to the hardcore players more than we want to admit.
If you make it too fast and the hardcore players leave after 3 days of a new season (or worse, don’t even bother playing it anymore), it’s not likely to keep casuals around either.
In reality, you need to keep both groups engaged, but never cater to the hardcore or it will become too difficult for normal/casual, hence why I say the middle group is the good target.
It’s not actually that hard in concept to cater to casual players and hardcore players at the same time.
The key is to reward effort, synergy and smart play. Diablo 1 did this by having drops be dungeon level based which also encouraged exploration over boss spam. You had typical Level 1-15. Nightmare added +15, Hell added +30. Bosses were +4, Chests -4. With an end-game range of 41-50 between a chest and boss. Simply fighting and surviving in the content was enough.
Devs these days no longer want to use such a system because they can’t maintain balance.
Even when with gimmicks like Armor Set +40000% damage or build enabling Uniques.
D4 is not the only game guilty of this. Most RPG-based games do this now. Grind over push.
The exp is not getting a direct buff in 1.1.1 patch. They mentioned in the recent camp fire that they will increase mob density for dungeons which will equal to more exp but any direct buffs will be applied in season 2.
Cool stuff seriously love their games and mods look good… What live service games have you wrote code for that runs calculations on the server? Cause it is competely dif from running local and pulling from a server calculating for you at the same time having to check for cheats 3rdparty software ect.
Exactly. This. All day and 3 levels. I wouldn’t mind as much if it wasn’t the exact same thing over and over basically. But just basic math, that’s 170 hours to get from 50 to 100. That’s just incredibly ridiculous
This mod was actually run as a free live service. It was originally released from beta 3 years ago. After fixing various issues and mechanics I started adding more to the game. The vector script is one of them.
I just recently stopped adding content and that’s mostly due to BG3 coming out soon.
If you’re talking about something more AAA level. I fixed script for Warframe involving stealth damage double dipping with Gas status. There’s actually still some hate youtube vids attacking me for fixing it. I sent them the code interaction which I obviously didn’t post publicly.
Warframe happens to use Server/Client on the player side for most in-mission interactions.
I don’t feel much difference between a local server and online one when it comes to coding. You usually have functions built in. If you don’t then you make one. Like the Shaco thing. I made a post saying they know exactly who got one during what time frame. That’s a simple database iteration.
Well in terms of network security. I haven’t dealt with that in a while. Ironic since Cisco was my focus in college. One thing I certainly wouldn’t do is use the client/server update system Warframe does.
The game got nerfed so bad. I am facerolling everything and i am max’d out with Sacred gear.
I now want Ancestrals and i need something that is not a faceroll. I missed my struggles on Season 0. Struggling means i am fighting harder and i get entertained when the fights are on match.
Unlike right now, i feel the mobs are nerfed so much. It’s no longer a match. It’s a faceroll.
Im level 54 and i just beaten NM18. I remember in S0, i was struggling to beat NM 15 at level 64. I need a level 69 Sorcerer friend to beat Capstone Elias to reach Torment in S0. It seems i could do Capstone Elias alone now on S1 at level 54.
We will see. I felt the mobs nerfed. But i dont know if this is good. The only good i see from this is that maybe i could beat Uber Lilith/NM100 this Season.
