I’ve been a D4 player since season 0, but unlike most, I’m attached to this game because of the PvP. We have a small community that always plays PvP every season, even though Blizza designed PvP for fun rather than focusing on and developing it like PvE. That wasn’t really important to us in the first 12 seasons, however, starting from season 13, the damage system increased significantly due to the overall changes to D4’s PvE aspect, and this greatly affected gameplay in PvP. The damage increased so dramatically while defensive stats were significantly reduced, leading to a huge imbalance in PvP. Almost everyone would die within a second, regardless of their build; we even experimented with trash items, but the results remained the same.
We realized the problem in Season 11. The damage output was already very high, but we could still PvP, at least for about 3-4 seconds. At that time, each person’s average damage reduction was 99.5-99.7%. It looked like we were almost immortal, right? But that was only enough to sustain us for 3-4 seconds. And from Season 13 onwards, it was truly a death sentence for PvP. There was no way to achieve 99% DR or higher, and the damage was increased to xxxT damage.
So, is there any hope for PvP to return? Or is there any hope that Blizzard will actually care about and balance PvP?
Every time I go into the Fields of Hatred no mater the time or the torment level I never see any of the PvP lovers.
Yes, I know. As I said, we have a small community, and whenever we play, we join a party to be on the same layer. If you only play in random layers, it’s difficult to see many other players.
Probably not. You just Zerg the other person till all immunities and defensives run out.
Of course we fight with all defenses activated, but we’ll still die in a second
I doubt it. They put in PvP to see what happened, but it’s not popular. Blizz collects lots of stats and they put their time and resources into activities the majority of players enjoy.
Scaling is too extreme. They can’t even balance PvE at this point because there are so many runaway multipliers.

Yes, PvP is much more challenging than PvE, but that’s what makes it so appealing. I hope Blizzard will pay attention to PvP in the near future; I hope so. As of now, this game is dead to me.
there has been one campfire chat where they did ask for input on pvp. But honestly… i woudnt bet on it. They got far more important things to worry about.
so yea, if pvp is you focus, id say you will need to wait a looong long time til its on the menu.

Short answer: no.
Long answer: also no. The community of PVP players is just to small to dedicate any development resources to support.

Pivipi Players still have 2 Pivipi Maps and an organized Community.
If you want a game that plays a bit like DIV you can play Guild Wars 2 Pivipi.
There you have lots of different maps with different goals.
You have World VS World where you can do big battles, storm castles or jutst silently roam around and kill/distort other units.
Its very nice. And people doing it 24h a day
Hope for WHAT???

You “players” should just stop trying to revive that long dead horse…
Just let it go…
Forget about it…
There’s more astronauts living in Earth orbit than “players” playing D4 PvP…
