You are not understanding or choosing to ignore the very basic concept of the issue here that i already pointed out in the post you just read and that is;
There is no other way to acquire mats with gold other than through another player.
Therefore, the OTHER PLAYER acts like a Walmart/Vendor/Middleman. They have an inventory, which people can acquire and is recognized as legal by the authorities. That SOME players/walmart/vendormiddleman are selling illegal items unknown to the customer and implicating that customer in the crime is the problem.
Using your example, Blizzard = manufacturer/maker NOT Seller(Walmart). Walmart did not make those TVs that they acquired through illegal means, LG, Samsung, etc made them(legally). So my example still stands. Walmart/Player is the MIDDLEMAN that is scamming customers/players.
You appear to actually agree with me and others that the policy is stupid when you’re talking about intent mattering, yet still try to justify it at the same time.
The other player in no way represents the company, nor is the company reviewing and approving their trades. Those are person to person deals. Blizzard intentionally does not sell mats because that would be P2W for real money, or gold.
Players are not Blizzard representatives. People selling in Walmart’s parking lot or aisles are not Walmart representatives.
I am not even getting into the agree or disagree discussion because it is complicated. I just want people to be safe and not risk their accounts. Or if they do, to realize the stakes.
I oddly enough need to go to Walmart today. To pick up glasses. Heh. I should actually get to that. Blah.
Rule #2 keeps me from buying mats. You can get like 500 runs for 250m gold. It would be fun to kill Duriel that many times but i dont want to get shadow banned for mats i didnt make myself.
Let’s be honest here. There are so many players that have bought mats, and I believe most of these are duped, that if Blizz were to ban all those accounts there would be no one left playing. It’s not going to happen. Let’s hope they find a solution if they are indeed going to have leader boards next season.
The only thing left in the game I want/need to do is obtain a shako. I have every other uber and non-uber unique for my 2 character classes (necro/barb). I can 1-shot lilith. I’ve done a few rounds of AoZ and have no desire to climb further. I’ve got all the glyphs I want leveled to 21. I just need that shako but it takes a full hour just to get 2 Duriel rotations (20 steel = 4 Gregoire = 2 Duriel runs).
In fairness (having just tried D4 on controller…) it’s kind of hard to do anything other than emote if you are playing in party on consoles. and most are on console.
Nobody cares if it’s against TOS or not. No one on Playstation is getting banned for duping millions of Dur mats and selling them through their XB / PC distribution network.
by punishing both parties it eliminates mat laundering. If you don’t punish the buyer, because Blizzard can’t confirm your relationship to each other, then you can effectively sell duped items to your friend to remove the duping ban.
I’m not defending those who do it, But if someone buys mats or trades them, is way better than spending a lot of time farming FOR NOTHING.
In my case I’m sick and tired of going on helltides because devs wanted that…
You can’t force players to play an event that is not attractive, at least to me…it’s annoying, disgusting and TYRANIC.
I bet if the Uber Unique drop-rate would be 20 or 30%, none of those things would happen and players would be happy…
Think about it:
1.- tree of whispers , legion or world boss (1 hour) to get Varshan materials
2.- killing varshan TWICE to get the eggs (2 previous hours)
3.- getting into a Helltide for living steel (10 at most if you dont die for 50 mins)
4.- Killing Grygoire TWICE for 2 shards of agony
THEN: SUMMONING ECHO OF DURIEL…FOR NOTHING 98% OF THE TIME…
seriously?
wasting all that time for NOTHING?
I thinks devs should be more consiuderate with the ones who make possible the game sells and finally understand that happiness is not what they decide but what gamers want
I know the one thing stopping me from spending all the useless gold I have accumulated on Duriel materials is Blizzard’s incompetence on fixing the boss summoning material’s duping. Nevertheless, it is both funny and sad that devs made materials purposefully tradeable and that people may lose their accounts in the future for trading gold for those same materials because of a bug that Blizzard enabled in its own game lol.
you keep forgetting all the hard working asians that farm d4 mats for a living. And this is sadly no joke.
Thats why these things cost barely anything.
Not duping, which was fixed.
