I knew it would happen to me and I was dreading it. I’ve lost an Item here and there to Tempering, but I haven’t had the soulcrushing back-to-back-to-back of bricking Items over and over because the stat I want isn’t weighted highly. It really saps your will to continue to play.
- I bricked a 2GA Chestpiece last night. It had a GA on +Corpse Explosion and I was stoked.
- Then - since +Corpse Explosion seems to be weighted so lightly on Chestpieces - I shot three different 1GA pieces into the millions of gold per enchanting reroll and never got any of them to land on +Corpse Explosion
- And then I went back to tempering and I bricked multiple 0GA Chestpieces.
Tens of millions of gold lost, 12+ items bricked (including a 2GA), and nothing to show for it. Worst of all all of this happened when standing in town instead of playing the game!
So I set out to do Whispers quests to make gold and … that felt dumb. I’m killing level 100 mobs (trivialized content) to farm gold so I can maybe get 2-3 more rolls towards a stat that is weighted not to appear? I NOPED right out of there.
Honestly, awesome season, great job with the loot overhaul, but this new in-town gear enhancement system sucks.
- RNG to drop the Item
- RNG to have GA
- RNG for Tempering (potential to brick)
- RNG for Enchanting
- RNG for Masterworking
The first two feel fine. The rest feel somewhere between hopeless and punitive.
Delete Tempering. It’s just not fun in its current form.
Get us back out into the game playing content that is engaging.
PS: I know the content is created by completely different teams, but it was salt in the wound having this happen in town while “TeeheeSillyGoos” is on his new jaguar mount wearing gaudy wings running in circles the entire time with his break-the-fourth-wall cute little pet chasing him as he says “Look. Look. Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.Look. Look. Look. Look.” THE ENTIRE TIME.
This game needs to figure out what it wants to be.
