How do we share fan art?

To post links and screenshots:

  1. Upload your image to a hosting site such as imgur.com.
  2. Paste the link to your image into your post.
  3. Select/highlight the link and click the </> button in the toolbar.
  4. Your link will look like this: https://i.imgur.com/2fzVAF8.gif

Testing it out, got it to link but just need to make it so it is not a downloadable image.
not sure how to do this though.

Did you read what I wrote, and then follow the directions?

You can look at the last image I linked in that post, and it shows an example.

Yeah it worked, but i used a different site since i was having trouble loading that one at the time.
Just it allows people to download the image which would not be my preference.
Not sure if this is a site thing or a choose the right link thing, it had a bunch of options like direct link
Link
Markdown link
Others that i have forgotten
If this doesnt make sense dont worry about it,
I Appreciate the help it got the ball rolling
Thank you.

My instructions were about how to put links in your forum posts. You can use any site you like to host your images. Imgur was just a suggestion since it does not require an account, and is easy to use.

There is no way to prevent that. If someone can see the image on their screen, that means that their computer requested the image, and that it was sent to them. Once they can see it, then they already have the image on their computer, no matter what precautions you take. The lack of a download button or a direct link makes no difference.

Everyone has a printscreen button on their keyboard, at the very least, even if they do not know how to access the image directly.

You can watermark it, and let people know that it is copyrighted, but there is no way to prevent someone from using your image without litigation, so it is best to just not worry about it.

I agree with what you are saying.
Only as a personal comfort would i prefer the file not be downloadable as at least with a screenshot the quality will be less than that of the file, unless i bother to make a low res version i guess would be a solution and watermarks.
Thank you kindly for you time and efforts.
I will consider my options and what i want to do before i post it.

Just out of curiosity. Do you plan to monetize your art?

You have already put the work into it, and if you don’t plan to license it or sell it, then why not just offer it as a gift to the public?

I understand how frustrating it could be to do that and then see it on a tee-shirt somewhere and feel like you missed an opportunity or that someone else has profited off of you.

But if you offer it as a gift to the public, then you will never have any regrets and you can feel happy each time you see that someone else is enjoying your art, since you are the author.

Totally up to you, and it is certainly not selfish to keep your art to yourself or to profit from it.

Have you considered selling your images to a stock site? I think you get a small profit each time someone buys it, and they have lawyers that sue people all day long for every infringement. If you see someone using it without permission, you can just let the stock site know, and they will go after them for it.

I think about some YouTubers who write songs they know they will never sell, so instead, they just share their creativity online so that everyone can enjoy it, and I think that is a beautiful thing.

Not thought about it at all, it’s not even good lol ,
Just wanted to share it to show my excitement for the game.
Though now i am concerned it will change for the worse since people don’t seem to understand D4 i feel like i am going crazy.
Anyways, i mean it’s fan art,it’s a copyrighted character technically.
My only concern for the download was art theft, meaning someone would download it and share it or try to sell it or whatever as Thiers.
Other than that, yeah it was just to share the joy of a drawing i made.

Pretty sad way to share content, just can’t have upload image feature like a normal good platform. They don’t want to host the storage obviously required for uploads, so they palm you off to another service and say link it, nah this is a cruddy service, I’d rather post my art on places it don’t require another account for.
