Ok, after 8 season waiting for a pure minion build, I would like to throw out some suggestions and ideas I have that I believe would greatly improve the playstyle of a pure minion build.
#1.) We need to removed the “Occult Dominion” aspect that grants 2 more skeleton mages and warriors. Just give us the base amount of skeletons at start, and as we put points into Skeletal Warrior Mastery and Skeletal Mage Mastery, it increases the amount of each we get by 1 for every 2 ranks above the 3 hard points. So if we get 13/3 on each, we would get an extra 5 warriors and mages to improve our army. It’s a wasted aspect for gear when we are already starved for aspects on the gear we have for minion builds
#2.) The golems are great, but it’s hard not to always use the Blood golem for it’s increased damage and damage abortion for your character. My suggestion here, is to have all golems absorb some of the damage your character would take, and increase the damage they all do by 50% and let us choose a golem to take from there. I believe they all should be able to taunt as part of their special ability. As a pure necro, we should be there for support and to throw out curses etc… What I would really like to see, is the Golem to have a fully equipped body that we can put gear. The skeletons would still scale off of our stats, but the Golem would be on his own with gear.
#3.) Army of the dead could use a complete re work in my opinion, it feels very underwhelming and most go with Soulrift, which to me makes it a hybrid build. I think Army of the Dead could be just a buff when cast that gave you +6 to skeletal warrior and mage to give you +2 more of each skeletons (With the above mentioned change) and commanded all of your skeletons to target a specific area or enemy sending them into a frenzy increasing there damage and attack speed for a certain amount of time. This would give us something similar to the Golem, where we could command our minions with a little more control.
#4.) Last but not least, implement some kind of formation for us where we can set where we want our minions to be as we are running around Sanctuary. We could have the Golem and skeletons be in front of us as we are moving around and the mages be behind us so we have a bit more protection from our minions.
Have seen a lot of progression for the minion class over the season, but these are some ideas I think would greatly improve on the pure minion playstyle. Have so many more, but didn’t want to write such a long book.

The Elephant in the room is the fact that season 7 and 8 have pure minions viable purely through seasonal borrowed power.
Once they stop doing “season of the Witch/Boss/Cube power” minions will drop off a cliff.
They will need a 150%x buff just to keep them competitive with other A tier builds, maybe through glyphs and letting extra attacks scale other effects like mendeln, along with some basic buffs.
- Also remove all minion armour/resistence nodes from our skill tree and cult leader board, possibly leave them on the golem board for thorns golem… not even sure that’s a thing anymore.
- Rework warrior and mage glyphs so they have damage multi for minions.
- Make skeletal warriors viable damage dealing minions, right now they do insignificant amounts of damage in the end game due to absolutely appalling scaling.

The entire class needs to be reviewed and reworked when it comes to minions. It just stinks right now.

It’s funny how everyone of us is comeing to the same conclusions, and giveing the same ideas over and over again, yet devs just refuse to listen.

Very important points.
But we also need more active powers for the minion necro.
- Souls from vampiric curse should have the summon tag.
- Skeletal Simulacrum should have a summon tag.
- Volatile Skeletons from Howl from Below should have the summon tag.
Shademist aspect could be “Your Summons deal” instead of “Your Minions deal”, making all other forms of summons, including the wolves from runes, creating this dot effects.
I like that there are exclusive multipliers for the different class summons, but I do agree there should be more sources of, general multiplicative summoning damage sources. They could start by increasing the summoning damage temper from +60% to atleast +120%, as there is no other way(not considering implicits from schytes) to roll that stat.
That’s because we aren’t a content creator named Macrobioboi. It seems when it comes to Necromancers, the developers only listen to him. The minion bugs getting patched on Wednesday were only addressed because he reported it directly to them. It doesn’t matter that those same bugs were repeatedly reported by us players throughout last season.
It makes you wonder if it’s really worth the time and effort to report any bugs on this forum. I think the smarter move is to report Necromancer related bugs directly to Macrobioboi and hope that he reads it and reports it to the developers.
1- My main gripe is the cold mages and iron golem. They just don’t fit in with the blood/bone/shadow theme.
I would love to see blood mages and a shadow golem.
The blood mages could do something like spawn blood orbs after x attacks or with y% chance, or have an increased overpower chance.
The blood golem would do friggin’ shadow damage for one thing. For the attack options, maybe a short duration AoE corruption aura, or apply a corruption DoT.
I really don’t care what they do, just that they open up synergies with other skills, passives, and aspects.
2- Of course an actual Attack command, or just better AI, at the very least.
3- Speed up the golem’s jump-&-attack animation. It jumps, crouches for almost a full second, then finally actually attacks. It makes it feel very unresponsive.
4- If the golem can’t quite get to where you sent it to attack, then it should just attack as near as it can… not just run around trying to get there for 5-10 seconds or more.
And Ring of Mendeln is doing physical damage, which destroys all possibilities of using different kinds of damage. Ring of Mendeln should use the same damage type as your mages do.
