I don’t think any gaming studios can actually do that, and I will not hold them to that standard. The questions is if I am a best selling writer, why would I want a day job? Will I want a contracted project? I don’t think so. To write Diablo stories, you need a fantasy writer. A best selling fantasy writer likely won’t take contracted projects. It they do, they are probably not best selling fantasy writers. The inspiration and passion about a specific story are really important. I think writing really works in a very different way from music composing for this reason. You can hire a great musician to write a song based on some theme that you give them, but you cannot do that with a best selling fantasy writer.
Elden Ring got GRRM, one of the best writer in this genre.

Plus you can JUMP in the game. We had this long long time ago… was it Baldurs Gate - Dark Alliance? (why the hell dont we have an ARPG like this) or was it Champions of Norrath? I loved those games
