I play Barb the first time in Diablo 4 and i can to some degree understand some opinions here.
I have a SB with 1,2 billion damage (my strongest char in Diablo 4 so far) but i need 20 sec for an aether lord or 40 sec for a lair boss. My girlfriend with her quill volley twoshot an aether lord and brings down the lair bosses in 3-5 sec. Torment 4 of course. Felt myself useless a little bit. And i would consider my touch of death build as op.
On the other hand barbplayers were always, together with the sorc players, the loudest crybabies in Diablo. And not only bcs their class was in the game since Diablo 1 Hellfire.
I remember some days before the Lord of Destruction Addon, Blizz launched a test with the new mechanic (phys and elemental res, attackspeed scales and so on) and all these lancebarbs dying at trashmobs at the flameriver. The flames of the river could have been extiguished with the tears of the barbplayers.
Since these times, Barbs were always a good and more then solid class. But there was always a (minority?) group of loud whining players of barbs and sorcs, that ranted when their class was not the top of the top in every aspect.
In D4 it is the same, maybe more bcs younger players tend to be more agressive and whiny when their toy is not the shiniest.
And there is this tendency to alwys see things in black and white. There seems to be no grey inbetween for some people. Things are always bad or always good. “If i’m not the best, i uninstall the game” and so on, you know the arguments.
That is bs thinking at its best.
In every season so far, Barbs had always one of the strongest ridiculous overpowered builds.
Not with every build but with at least one. Also sorc.
This season may be the first, where barbs (not to forget together with druids) are behind. And it seems with nearly every build. No “we make a skill of this class to a core skill and let it strike critical and with no cooldown” mechanic in this season so far.
Ok. Understandably this feels not very good. But earth will rotate further. No one take real harm bcs of a season with not the biggest badest muscleboy on top of the hill.
But there will be better times. And Diablo 4 is not a combatible game. It is a core single player game. Even in a party it feels like a single player game.
