…come on guys. You HAD to know these nerfs were coming. That was clearly a broken class that needed to be taken down a few pegs. Those changes along with sorcs buffs(FINALLY) and all classes (except barb) getting buffs to their main stat will help provide more balance to the game and fun for more players overall.
Balance for what? The damage meters? So you don’t get sat on a raid? This isn’t an MMO and there really isn’t any direct competition.
So what do they really balance around, streamer videos? Because that’s what seems to be driving the bus at Blizzard. Free streamer advertising runs the show.
Oh, I knew this was comming. Too much bragging on one hand, And too much complaining on the other hand. Now the barbs hands are tied. Well sort of…for now…
Nerf is perfectly fine, but this isn’t a balance nerf, this is class destroying Nerf, I don’t think this is needed for ANY class.
They really need to learn how to balance things in baby steps
We care about damage when it comes to picking classes and builds. If you show up at a legion or boss event and everyone is playing barb or necro, it isn’t just because of love of the class. I haven’t seen too many Bone Spear necros since S1 nor many Ball Lightning Sorcs since S2. I rarely saw minions running around EVER until this season. It’s not too hard to figure out why. More balance means more people can pick what they like instead of just picking the OP or broken build. Otherwise they can just rename the game Barbarian because everyone is playing the same class. What is the point of even having other classes if the majority are playing the same one?
So you don’t like it if too many people play one class. Got it.
Sarcasm aside, if you can do all the content you want to do it doesn’t really make a difference. But when Rob goes online and coins the term “barbillions” then the nerf bat comes out!
Maxroll had a pit leaderboard up and running for a while. #1 spot was a “Firekuna” build sorcerer. Now that only went through June 3rd, but a lot of barbs, sorcerers, and rogues topped the list. Necros started showing in the 50s spots. Druids conspicuously absent.
All pointless anyway when Spiritborn drop. They will be OP AF because that’s how Blizzard drives popularity for new classes.
I’m wondering how much if these changes are about to be undone by the expansion with the new system updates they are bringing in.
I’m fine with the nerfs but I’d rather have seen other classes buffed.
With changes to uniques and not seeing the final patch notes it hard to say how Barb will do. Ya a nerf was req, seems a bit drastic but ill have to try it season 5 and see.
Class destroying? Ok so if I took the complete gear set I have, all paragon, my skill setup, and all the same aspects… Do you know what I lose?
100%x---->45%x
That’s it… That’s the only thing I lose… I can’t say the changes are going to be making any drastic changes to my build… I don’t even care… I’ll still stomp faces
I play barb every season, will again for S5, and still think barb needed heavy nerfs. Until I see full patch notes and get my hands on the new uniques, I will reserve judgement as to whether barb was overnerfed or not. However, I do hope barb wasn’t nerfed down only for other classes to have been buffed up to the point of replacing barb as the “broken” class for S5. The whole flip-flopping of class balance is just silly. I do also agree with the arguments that just broadly nerfing barbarian does impact the already weaker builds vs other classes, that were nowhere near as powerful as bash or flay/bleed builds, and now just makes them even worse. So, maybe Blizzard really should’ve just focused on the outliers like bash and flay/bleed/gushing wounds etc. but time will tell.
Looking at the spiritborn playtests, it looks like there’s a huge stat squish, with 69 dps weapons, approx. 95 life, at level 30, so will be interesting to see where stats/damage end up for S6/expansion.
I dunno a 55% nerf is pretty big.
Certain builds like Flay absolutely need heavy nerfs.
Are you really telling me ww or DS need heavy nerfs? Lol serious?
No one would have cared if they nerfed the crazy overperforming skills. Instead they nerfed key passives into the ground, which affect ALL barb builds, including the underperforming ones. Yes, there are plenty of barb skills that were pathetically underperforming.
By not focusing these changes on the specific things that were out of line in terms of DPS and Interactions, they screwed a lot of people who just want to enjoy a build centered around their favorite skill, even if it wasn’t the meta. Now those underperforming skills will be like trying to hunt a bear with a pellet gun.
Read the rest of my post perhaps? I specifically call out that just broad sweeping nerfs are unlikely a good idea and Blizzard likely should’ve focused on the outliers.
Will they cut those extra hands?
It’s the right time to do it.
It’s not 55 percent nerf dude… Going from 100%x to 45%x is not a difference of 55 percent damage dude… U guys need to calm down.
It’s somewhere closer to 27.5 percent dmg nerf. And when you are doing 100 million, and it goes down to 73million… It’s pretty negligible, cuz stuff is dead anyways…
Nobody is asking for competition.
They’re asking for their favorite class they want to play to be as powerful as the Barbarian.
And they’re 100% justified and right.
we knew nerfs to gushing wounds, dust devils, bleed builds, bash and protection temper were needed but nerfs to unconstrained, umbridled rage and walking arsenal are one of the most dumb nerfs i’ve ever seen. Builds that used those key passives, in the live game, right now season 4 are hot garbage. Go on, try a ww without any bleed or dust devils or try a walking arsenal build or a double swing without bleed or dust devils. Even the dust devil builds without bleeds are pretty mid.
Anyway, we still have to wait until the unique reworks, maybe the rework to barbarian uniques will make up for those nerfs, otherwise they will have to re adjust the number or rework those key passives.
55% whether additive or multiplicative is pretty big when it’s a key node.
Fighting things with big health pools that -27 mill per hit is gonna be felt. The games boring when things have giant health pools and this just made them gianter.
Plus it’s not just the endgame damage levels you’ll feel the difference. When you have worse gear and are lower level that -55% is gonna be very noticeable.
I can just take off a 50x aspect right now and feel what the difference is gonna be… And it’s really negligible…there’s not a reason to push content that high right now
Overworld dies in one hit no matter what… So being a lower lvl isn’t even gonna matter… Ur NOT gonna feel it unless u get to pit 100 and higher, and even then, ur 2 min run, might be 3 min now… Ooooooh
