To be fair PTR did feel good in terms of progression. Definitely felt better then D3.
Alot of it had to do with gear progression, ga were not raining from the sky. It was less instant gratification so when you go something there was excitment.

Oops, just bricked that GA itemsâŚ
Next.
Yep Iâm fine with less available GA items IF they address tempering.
Iâd be perfectly happy to have a slightly slower more steady progression than to hit 100 with all desired items in a few days and then spend 2-3 months chasing an elusive item ill likely never get for a barely perceptible improvement.
I mean when you just got 5 stats on the item to start with it may have been just as impossible to get all 5 you wanted, but the feeling created with tempering violates a basic phycological idea that humans hate subtraction
That is ⌠in the old system if you got something with 3 stats you wanted, you could choose the least acceptable stat and enchant over it (getting the item = addition, adding the enchant = addition) . You may have felt less good about only having 4 good stats than you would if you added 5 good ones, but you are still only ADDING. Conversely, because the idea of self-determination on the 2 final stats is presented (even if we know logically that it is an illusion), if you get something with 3GAs and then fail to get what you want/need in tempering you essentially have the experience of that item being taken away from you (making a 3-star items âunusableâ = subtraction).
This is human psych 101. humans hate subtraction. Even if the end result is the same âAn item with 4/5 desired statsâ the feeling of getting there under old and new system is significantly different.
Iâm not suggesting going back to the old way because I completely understand why they made the change. it was a feat of mental gymnastics looking at a full bag of loot and trying to figure out which if any items were an upgrade.
I do think tempering could be fixed pretty easily by a slight modification to the tempering scrolls. Instead of a full reset with a limit of 1 use per item, make it grant 1 more tempering roll with no cap to how many times you can use these consumable 1 roll items. If they are rare and account bound this would let very determined players eventually get what they want through working for it and players less inclined to farm for it would still have the idea that the item is usable and has hope to become âPerfectâ
Less gear in a loot game
Sounds like winner winner chicken dinner
to me !! /s
More meaningful gear.
Oh and belts. Why remove belts and shoulder armor.
Tell us more. âFarm for specific affixesâ sounds like dropping the foundational RNG aspect.
Farm for what? Uber boss encounters take 30 sec, with a sorc.
You wonât be getting affixes from Uber bosses since they now only drop unique items.
Itâs worse than I thought. Are you telling me uber bosses drop several uniques? Whatâs the challenge? Uniques have affixes.
This is not new. have you not played S5?
