I deleted my Necro and Sorc and total of 5 mythics Uniques I found during S4 last night

First I want to start by saying, I appreciate Blizzard made all the changes to S4 Loot reborn. This allowed me and I am sure many other people with a chance to see Mythic uniques either as a drop or craft. I also want to acknowledge the people that plays a ton, plays solo, trying to have fun blasting, but unfortunately still have yet to see a Mythic unique since the game launched.

I hope those people that never seen one yet, will most definitely get to acquire one in S5.

Okay, so with that being said, back to topic at hand.

Since S4 was the first season I was able to obtain mythic uniques, I thought to myself, cool, now I probably want to finally carry my characters over to eternal and park it there for future in case if I want to further them in Eternal.

The good news is the unique rework was fantastic, much needed and welcomed. But the bad news is all my current mythic uniques and uniques in general are pretty much useless. As someone who does care about quality of the loot, I understand the current legacy uniques still works, but who want to sit on these knowing the updated version is just THAT much better.

So, in conclusion, I’ve made the difficult decision to once again delete all my progress, characters stash and evrything. I will start over again in seasonal as S5.

I have yet being able to carry any characters over to eternal season since launch of the game. I have gotten used to the seasonal way of playing and mind set and I am ok starting fresh every season. But I do hope one day , I will see a mean to actually carry my seasonal character over to eternal and want to keep it there for future play, instead of just wanting to delete it.

I hope some eternal players reads this and maybe will share my thoughts.

does everyone post needs to have or prove a point ? Sometimes people read post to find that share some similarities and resonance to certain ideas. This post is meant entirely as a positive post. There is no matter of complain rather to share with blizzard devs, and other players what my experiences are =)

Not likely. They will always be updating gear with power creep. So, all major updates will ā€˜brick’ the majority of items you may want to carry over. Your option is to start over every season or re-farm the updated items on eternal. there really is no in between.

i mean, sure unique were updated, but regular legendaries weren’t and are still top choice quite often, so, i fail to see why you deleted everything if you wish to play eternal yourself

/facepalm. Mythic uniques can be turned into sparks to craft future mythic uniques which will have the updated affixes. Iron wolves rep grinds gives out sparks in Season 4 that can be done indefinitely. Instead of preparing for Season 5, you just deleted everything. Being committed is one thing but breaking your own legs just so you can’t run is something else.

This what always happens with Seasonal content. You play to have some fun knowing full well all the items etc will be thrown away after you’re done. Just enjoy the 2-3 weeks each season lasts and move on.

No different than watching a movie. You rent it, watch it, enjoy it and you’re done and move on with your life… until the next movie… or seasons in D4.

I mean yeah the new Shako, for example, is better but the old shako is still a beast. Not sure why you would delete something like that. Just use it until you someday find better. Not sure what all you deleted but some uniques are worse depending on what you need.

Some uniques lost CDR, DR, resource/generation. Like it all depends on the build I guess and what your build values. Really, last season most of the uniques werent even worth using because tempering is that powerful.

Not sure why you would delete your characters either unless you were running out of room.

well my Necro was blight build and in S5 shadow just isn’t viable anymore anyways. I don’t want to go out my way farming for new gears for other spec while feeling nerfed. I might as well just start all over in seasonal/

I mean thats cool if thats what you want to do. What if blight build is great in s6? If you have resolved yourself to just playing seasons and not eternal, I guess its not a big deal.

Ye I get what you mean. I’ll see maybe I won’t delete my S5 characters going into VoH I don’t know how it will turn out yet. But I am sure at one point I will be able to carry something over to eternal . But to your point, I am mostly a seasonal player.

I actually thought you were an eternal player for some reason.

Another thing I would say is this is why my stash is always full. I save gear that I think would be good for another build someday. That way if like in your situation a build might be bad, I have the gear already for a different build. IDK… as long as you are happy and having fun do what you think is best.

This is actually a more modern thing.

In diablo 2 the idea of playing a ladder or not felt very optional and kind of up to the player. I do also hope D4 turns into this as well.

Basically meaning Seasons should just add some new items and a theme and it makes it so that blizzard needs to add content good enough in a season to make players with their perfect gear stop playing them and opt into the season.

When they just do item resets they are kind of using a more heavy handed approach to make players opt into playing a season rather than just playing the game. I understand both the season 4 and 5 changes so not mad at it but definitely don’t think it should stay like this.

Ok, cool story.

…

great determination there, i salute you.

for i, i would let the migration to eternal realm happen and salvage mythic there for sparks, depends on necessity, i can reforge new updated mythic with RNG luck to come out with GA!

i hope by ā€œdeletingā€ you mean ā€œsalvaging all itemsā€, because mythic uniques do give you a spark upon salvaging.

if you didnt… well you shot yourself in the foot.
Dont forget you can recover the last deleted character.

Well at least Shakogate solved itself.

The problem is imo, that most of the unique reworks look cool at first, but when thinking about it more, they lost their functionality. Most affix changes make no sense, they leaned so much into adding new unique affixes and tempering affixes on them, that they forgot about the functionality and made them worse than before. Much desired affixes has been changed to affixes that no one needs in any build. So, I don’t see too much thought put into these changes.

Bro idk but ill take a cookie if you got em

I really think this is a non problem, i know that eternal player exist, and should be able to enjoy the game, but the legacy definition it’s self say, you trasferr the item you get in season to the eternal, why you should get the new version of that items for ā€œfreeā€?

This type of game are sustained by the seasonal pass, the expansion, and the cosmetics, all things that translate in a seasonal approach, if you play eternal you don’t buy the seasonal pass, you can not buy it even if you play the season, but usually if you want to support the game, and don’t let the devs be fired, cause keep updating a game cost a lot of money, beeing the game in developement all the time, you can easly say that the seasonal player that brought the seasonal pass make the game and it’s development still existing, if they don’t treat the season in a special way, and the eternal in a ā€œworstā€ way, the game will die really quickly, as you can se in LE recent cycle where they don’t do such a big difference between seasonal and eternal
