How Sets <could actually work> in Diablo 4

Sorry, dont remember voting you as my representative.

Explained already in upper post. Learn to read between the lines, friend. Not your Boss or mom, but still I will speak as I find it best. Is everybody here like 14 and posting first time on online forum. What is with you people?

We need sockets and randomization, something that will make a piece of gear “yours”… Not more of these “predetermined power” collections

There are already Codex and Tempering Manuals, and dare I say same Uniques… So no, not another collection to collect pls

Randomize, randomize, randomize, individual runs (and individual logins therefore) should feel more different from one another, not the same c*ap all over

You’re missing the mark with what’s wrong with the game (and sadly devs miss that also). In order to fix or improve, one has to recognize that first

Yes, I think the same. I did not pointed that idea in this thread, but I did in some others, weeks ago. Randomization is actually the priority to be worked on imho. I even proposed a long and complicated ideas as example how things could be made more random.

On the same train of thought, yesterday I was again observing the fact that legendary powers become “ghosted” around level 100. What I mean is that at that level the player already can swap all legendary powers by the occultist so the items he can loot as legendries are merely rares (with some chance to roll greater affixes). Which is quite boring, because items have very few affixes and they are greatly generalized.

So even when you hit perfect item and temper it perfectly, then masterwork it, even if it is powerful and good, after a day or two it just looks boring. Now compare this BiS Diablo 4 item with some regular not even BiS Runeword from d2. The diablo 4 item will look very bleak in comparison.

Example:

Rain Runeword (very basic runeword)
5% Chance To Cast Level 15 Cyclone Armor When Struck
5% Chance To Cast Level 15 Twister On Striking
+2 To Druid skill levels
+100-150 To Mana
Lightning Resist +30%
Magic Damage Reduced By 7
15% Damage Taken Goes to Mana
Boneweave Gauntlets of Concussive Strikes (close to BiS item)
Masterwork 8/12
15.5% Attack speed
14.2% Critical strike
16.4% Lucky hit Chance
55.9% Vulnerable Damage (temper)
Lucky hit: Up to 21.3% Chance to Freeze (temper)

Imprinted: Damaging an enemy has a chance to daze them for 2 seconds
You deal 20% extra damage to dazed enemies

So while the Runeword item has 4 very rare affixes (for d2), the only not so common stat on the gloves is the chance to freeze, the rest you can get from anywhere basically. It is good, but it is not as exciting.

So mundane. People always think of sets as items that take up equipement slots. Always think they have to be this bad thing that happenned in D3. So narrow minded some people are. Sets are where the devs could brake from tradition, and istead of items, it could be paragon board sets, or glyps sets. Or even if they stick with items as sets, they should be realy few like 2-3 peices of sets, and istead of giveing a big multiplier, it should just change the play style of a skill or give cool skill interactions. I don’t see OP’s idea could be healthy for the game.

Thanks for bringing this point. Never looked at the set idea as far as going to paragons or similar, but when you mention it, it does feel good. Also I see the same as you, people are so much scared by d3, that they even deny the chance to think about something related to sets. Which is sadge, because there is a lot of opportunity sets runes and crafts to be expanded in the future of d4.

I also want to point again, that my idea for sets is to be Pre-end game gear, not BiS End-game. A really BiS character in my view should have 0 set items in most cases. I simply copy-pasted a meta (player created meta not game originated) from d2 which I know for sure promotes item trade. And my main goal is to bring item trade and improve its purpose and behavior in the game, because it will improve the engagement between the players a lot - and this will bring the game to another level. If implemented properly of course. Even a great idea can be implemented poorly and have grave consequence, devs should just be careful with their ways of doing things.

Then i will set a timer for… 2031

No, your idea is terrible.

worst than the odd team season designer.

Well, its ok to have drastically different opinions. If it happens that you find some free time, please elaborate further. I’d like to know why you find the idea so terrible.
