Managed it somehow solo today.
Failed first try.

Second try I did get all somehow? Was mostly alone(it was morning here),so guess no other players to click the roots beside myself.

Went from 15 completed to 13 to 19 now im back down to 11. I understand the concept, but this doesn’t make much sense. Its very annoying.

Just got it a few minutes ago.

My usual tactic for anything “kill X in Y time” is to remove as many variables as possible.
In this case, that would be Other Players popping roots.
Now I didn’t know it could be completed in a party (99% solo anyway so … wasn’t even a consideration), so I thought “How does the mechanic work and how to optimize it”?

The Exposed Roots seem to occasionally randomly spawn BUT they 100% spawn upon completion of an Objective.
That being said:

My method as follows -

  1. Set Crossplay to :x: (off), whisper bar empty and inventory empty.
  2. Hire Subo - his maphack is a big QOL imo but not totally necessary.
  3. Select a Fresh Witchtide(no need to add stress with a 16 min one lol)
  4. Select a SMALL map you’re familiar with(I did Forgotten Coast in Hawezar simply because I’m so familiar with uncountable speedfarm Whispers there).
  5. Take a moment to look at the Map and all the objectives, the spread of them and set a route for yourself - How can you do the most in as small an area as possible on the fly? Efficiency is key.
  6. “Patrol” will be your starting point. Get this to 100-110 and …see below.
  7. START but Do Not Complete as many objectives as possible in a SMALL area:
  • ie. Pick 6/7 flowers, Save 3/4 Entangled Villagers, Guide 3/4 critters :fox_face: :rabbit2: etc. try not to do one thing here then another miles away… That’s my point. Complete in batches but don’t stress as a rule - just Go Fast and do whatever is quickest.
  1. Finish patrol and nearby objectives, pop all exposed roots.
  2. Ignore the Root Event when it spawns!! Go finish nearby things, pop the roots as they spawn, but return to the Event as it cycles(you’ll get a spawn notification). Kill and pop all Roots after kill (the Event spawns 3-4 roots upon completion.).
  3. Continue in this manner until 25 have been popped.

Tips: Fast Build is important.
Ignore most of the Loot(my map had so many :star:’s …) - I only picked up Ancestral just in case crash/dc.
Do not do the Cleansing event. Waste of time. Any pertinent kills will naturally happen.

Caveat - Partial completion was just my method but some naturally completed in short order too. I let myself get hung up on 1st Root Event and nearly ran out of time because of it.
Mileage may vary lol.
Off to do the 250 Helltide now.

It’s really is down to a bit of luck, so it’s a really annoying exercise. I managed to get to 24 then when I checked the Season Journey again, 15min has just ticked over, suddenly I’m on only 2… F this.

Yep, I posted about this before, the way it actually works doesn’t fit with the challenge text. When you start popping roots, a counter starts, and 15 minutes later, all roots you popped during those 15 minutes are scrapped. It should just stop counting the roots you popped more than 15 minutes ago, not all of them. Or they should rephrase the objective.

Don’t bother with this one, there are nerds waiting in the desert for you to finish a task just so they can run in and open your roots and then run away, they don’t even fight what comes out.

I was just minding my own business farming rot solo and got this achievement. Seems simple enough

You absolutely need to play with others to finish the season journey because you need to complete at least 80 percent of each tier to continue. Three of the objectives on the last tier are impossible without another player. Roots ablaze is one of them. There is no possible way you can pop 25 cocoons in 15 minutes by yourself. It doesnt matter how fast you move or fast you can clear mobs. Same goes for the other speed farming objectives. If you cant complete at least one those objectives you arnet hitting 80 percent, thus no finishing the season journey.

Literally just did it last night by myself. I wasnt even trying to do it. I was just farming rot.

I did not play with anyone and finished the season pass just fine.

I attempted the roots one only to see people scavenging your roots, they just run out of nowhere, and then run away and then I just did one of the other ones instead. The 750 Aether in T4 was my last one.

No one else was out there popping coccoons and headluss husks in the area? You were all by yourself in that zone? Yeah sure you were :rofl:

I freaking love these forums.
The sheer number of times that someone on this forum has told me that my reality is invalid is fracking inbelievable.

Of course there were other people in the zone. I dont get to dictate what they were doing. All i know if that i popped roots to spawn loot and bad guys and after a while i got the achievement.

This is a you problem.

Also maybe your problem is you’re living in the cacoon/husk area. Wouldnt it be smarter to complete whispers and pop your own roots (no competition)?
