I’m on a 4070, latest driver, 12700k, 32GB Ram, game installed on a 980 Pro NVME. My performance hasn’t been an issue however I take advantage of DLSS and Frame Gen even though I’m on 1080p because I play at 240hz and prefer my fps to remain as stable at 240 as possible. I also play on High settings. I literally can’t tell the difference with DLSS Quality or having it off so if you’re not using these options you may want to give them a try.
I’ve been seeing a lot of forum posts related to the total freeze of the game here and on reddit. Anecdotally speaking, here’s a summary of what i’ve heard:
- The freeze lasts anywhere from 1s to permanent - it varies, but 3-10 feels common
- It seems to occur most frequently in open world scenarios - not NMDs
- It seems to occur most frequently in WT3+
- Some have said turning off hardware acceleration here helps
- Some have said that turning off hardware acceleration in the bnet app helps
- Some have said that using older nvidia drivers helps
My theory is that it has to do with the way that they instance the open world environment and the client is getting jammed up with too much data it doesn’t know how to parse. I think there’s wayyyyy more people playing now and that’s why we didn’t experience this in S1. I’m not blizz though, so who knows - it’s just a theory
love all the little patches that dont fix anything. never once had these issues before s2. No one should need a work around or an effing anything to play your game blizzard. 2 weeks into the season fix your sh#t
I’ve seen d4 both sensitive to network lag and disk speed.
On ps5 on poor wifi its unplayable.
On pc, the interesting thing is a SATA SSD isn’t fast enough. It keeps up 85% of the time, but you will see minor stutters very often from a SATA SSD.
I’m guessing they could still optimize around the ssd speed, at the same time, the game is very modest on ram usage… they should more intelligently look at system ram and load everything on the initial load rather than streaming everything in and stuttering (if you have a slower disk).
I wish they would at least address that people are having issues in S2, I’m having all the same issues as everyone else and on a higher end pc, S1 played AMAZING, now I open a menu and dc, dash into mobs, lags for like 10 secs. Incredibly frustrating that there isnt a blue post…
Im with you here. 3080 GPU and all that fun stuff but I can’t make it past level 45 because I’ve lost 3 hardcore characters to DC/game freezing.
Can’t believe I spent money on this 3rd Party, Alpha level game. Just terrible.
Uninstalled since I can’t get my money back.
Same here. Loved Preseason and Season 1 (even with the MASSIVE lack of content). But had to quit this season because they made the game literally unplayable with lag/freezing.
I’ve only had a few brief instance of lag so far.
The only issue that constantly happens is dropped inputs. It’s killed me a few times.
i have the same issues except today along with rubber banding my screen turned red and the game closed and blizzard sent me a report number whats that about so i know they are aware of this problem before this the gam ran like a dream for me hmmm
I run a computer built back in 2015. I have a non-RTX NVIDIA card (1660 or something) and I have 8GB of system RAM. Launch and Season 1 were okay, but Season 2 is rough. I went and found a video on YouTube by Silcophilic on lots of different settings that can be adjusted to run the game and since following steps 1-4 (there are 10 total), my gameplay has improved dramatically.
