I have been to 10 different countries and many states. My best trip was to the Boston area.
Boston has taken a turn I can tell you that much
It was like 20 years ago I loved all the old revolutionary war stuff in Massachusetts.
That stuff is still all present, old north church, Paul reveres house, bunker hill etc
Just the city has changed for what I think is the worse
Yup.
When I was in Cali years ago:
“Where you from?”
re: “New England”
“Oh Long Island!?”
re: “No - N E W England”
“Ooooh you mean like BOSTON!?”
re: “Yea.”
It is beautiful indeed Avalon. So many old churches/cathedrals and amazing architecture in general.
Sadly my tiny state and tinier town has been going through extreme gentrification cough I mean “inflation” due to outside interests and the current market.
I’m grateful for this place. Peaceful. Friendly. Quiet(mostly).
Small, tidy city.
But may be time to ramble on…
@Avalon: just noticed: 10 Countries. Wow. That’s great. A dream of mine to travel far and wide.
Oh you are in casino land
Most of the time we were out of the city. Gloster, Salem, Plymouth, Concord, Lexington, great time just me and the wife driving. Her company HQ was in Marlborough they paid for most of the trip. She died shortly after, so I remember our trip.
Gloucester is really crap now it really has been a long time then.
Salem is alright just avoid Halloween month
You saw the good stuff.
Funny how living IN it and around it - “We”(I) don’t “see it” or appreciate it as much as I should.
Just went to the MOFA in Boston. What a great day.
Now I’m curious…
Is my state(remember: TINY) known as “Casino Land” hahaha
Haha before encore the closest one was in your state. Then the closest one after that was in the state after yours
I don’t want to name it obv but I’m sure people can figure out the state
True, I live in Colorado Springs, and I do not even pay attention to Pikes Peak, Olympic Center, Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods. I never go fishing, camping or skiing.
I think CT was the first with Fox Woods.
We came later. We had Jai Alai forever - that was “The thing” here.
Now TRiver, but that’s it I think.
I don’t keep up with that stuff.
I’m out in the woods exploring old, undocumented megalithic stone lintels, walls, mounds…also flora and fauna. Architecture. That’s my passtime.
(Yea idc if anyone knows where. Everyone is welcome.)
Yeh I was talking about Trivers I’m only 31 haven’t been to the other ones haven’t really heard of them other than Mohegan and Foxwoods obviously lol
Right? it’s so weird how thing that captivate others, what drives them to visit, become an everyday fixture for “us”/denizens of an area.
Always struck me.
@VInnie: Yea those are the BIG 'Uns.
Not my cup of tea, though I’ve heard countless tales of…yea. No thanks!!!
I like this peaceful area and these days - it’s on “The Radar” and it seems everyone else also likes it.
Colorado and lawn mowing and Kielbasa/Ribs here I come!!
Literally coming here because you’re bored is a bad decision
I have a couple family members buying houses out there and in NH and VT just because it’s way cheaper than MA
41 minutes and .03 seconds.
Summary
First negative interjection
(edit: I was bored and timed it… look up )
I hope they’re cheaper than around here.
2 years - what was 250/300k is now 475-600k. POS houses for 450-500k.
Ridiculous.
Blessings upon their endeavors, relocations and settling!
How do you figure that?
Alot of people on forums are opinionated and believe outscreaming someone else makes them right, so 90% of the discussions devolve in to non sequitir circular conversations.
But this one didn’t, we were all just having a conversation and talking man. Nothing wrong with talking with people with a common interest
Reminds me of a post from earlier… we were all minding our own business talking about the good days of gaming and someone came and disrupted that
