Heartseeker/Rain of Arrows

Just passing along an idea. Using Maxroll Season 6 DiEoxidE builds as a starting point, I merged.

In Season 5 I had used Vengeful and Arrow Storm aspects for added AOE on a otherwise standard Heartseeker build with success. But they didn’t proc Paingorger’s bonus damage. Using Fists of Fate seems to work well. The Word of Haken and the ROA ultimate skill seem to make up for dropping Moonrise and Adaptability and add AOE.

Has anyone else tried this approach?

For a Heartseeker that uses Victimize, you don’t need Moonrise or Adaptability since it’s not Heartseeker that does your damage but Victimize. Heartseeker is just there to proc Victimize. Word of Hakan is okay but you’d be better off building around Victimize with an Amulet that has a GA on Frigid Finesse or Malice if not both but at least has both those stats.

Though you use Rain of Arrows it’s for the knock down effect, to proc No Witness, and to spread Shadow Imbuement to enemies and not to do damage with Rain of Arrows itself but to improve the damage of Victimize.

The use of that Sword that ups the damage of your basic attacks is for its ability to make your basic skill cost resource more than the tiny amount of damage it adds to your Heartseeker compared to the massive amount from Victimize. And that’s only because with Prepartion it resets your Rain of Arrows again for knockdown, No Witness, and Shadow Imbuement.

I’ve only beaten Tier 85 in the Pit with this set up, but my Fists of Fate have a relatively low damage affix. Luckily, they do have a GA on Lucky Hit though and I critted twice on it.

Anyway, I haven’t played this season preferring to stay in Eternal. But yeah, you’ll get more AoE out of Victimize than from Rain of Arrows. Last season I did pretty much what you are doing with your build and it didn’t do near the damage I’m dealing this season in Eternal.

Thank you for the feedback. I tried this in the hope that it will be my main build for Season 7. Reviewing DiEoxidE’s 2 builds, I realized that I could not just change the ultimate and expect good results.

I used ROA for AOE so I didn’t need Victimize. I used the Precision key passive and the damage pools from the ROA build (Crit damage instead of Vulnerable).

I used Rakanoth’s boots and only 3 legendary with aspects: Arrow Storms, Frostbitten, and Coldclip. Essentially I used Heartseeker to proc instead of Flurry avoiding the exploitation of a Flurry bug, making tempering choices simpler. Also giving me room for 4 Active skills (caltrops, ss, smoke grenade, dash).

Recently I found a “Frozen” Heartseeker build using ROA on Youtube by Medieval Marty that uses the Victimize key passive.

Your feedback is exactly the type of information I hoped for. Very helpful. I am going to come back to the rogue build in about a week.

PS: For context, I was playing this build with a friend on a SB quill volley. My FofF gloves also had a bad damage roll, but had 3 stars. The ROA would instantly stagger any boss and the SB would one shot it. Cleared rooms the same way. Really fast duo with a lot of ROA cooldown. I can’t remember the Pit level I did solo, but I remember I only dropped to 1 advance per roll for glyph levels 45 and 46. So I guess level 75 with 9+ minutes remaining when I stopped.

Next season, with the changes to Shadow Clones and a couple of legendary affixes that affect skills after using Shadow Clones, you’ll probably want to drop RoA for Shadow Clones. I did that in the PTR and my Pit Tier went up three tiers and could have been higher if my equipment had been better.

Just something to think about. Glad I could help.

I have used all of the unique gloves over the seasons, including Grasp of Shadow. ROA is a Marksman skill! But I used Shadow Clones with 2 of the arrow storm aspects with success in S5. Wonder if they have changed how the gloves interact with the Ultimate and imbuements? Then there are the Witch Powers.

So many possibilities and the Armory to compare them. Thanks.
