Hey im pretty sure this wont ever reach Blizzard eyes but how cool would it be to make a MMO (WoW Style and playing style) but set in the Diablo world? You all got the Lore…you al lgot a awesome world….please!!
Just getting in before all the “It’s already an mmo” comments
yeah it is but not like WoW style
i mean, best of luck with your idea. I would love it as well. But realistically speaking, i dont see it happening.
MMOs are pretty expensive to develop, and to maintain. Hence why so many mmos get canceled, often even during their development.
Now, microsoft blizzard certainly has the cash to go for it, but yea, i dont see them gambling on this one.
I have no doubt the developers have thought about it. However it would be competing with WoW at the same time. Seems counter intuitive. Not to mention the costs to even get it all started. Just wouldn’t be worth it I imagine.
An actual full blooded MMO Diablo would be cool
Tab target combat, free camera movement (not just the top-down) we have, many other elements
Basically WoW in the Diablo universe
I’d be very keen on something like that, since i quit WoW in Shadowlands i’ve been looking for a replacement mmo to fill the void
No significant criticisms for WoW other than the story just got butchered to the point i no longer recognize or consider that universe “Warcraft” anymore, so any investment i had for it just kinda died (lore is important to me)
The art style also just became too.. “disney-fied”? idk if that’s the correct word, but a lot of the outfits and effects and models just feel a lot more cartoonish than the game used to be
They recently had a free weekend where i logged in again to convert my old gold stores to battlenet balance to buy the d4 expac later, got enough for the next 3 games they release prolly
And i took a look around and tried playing a little bit, and it just didn’t look like warcraft anymore.
Just… yeah, i’d love a replacement for it, similar gameplay but a different universe
Though i guess you could make the argument, what’s to stop that new game going the way WoW has?
But i’d still like to see it, though it’s prolly never happening unless some other company bought the IP (which is also never happening), because why would blizz want to compete with themselves
Im like you. I really dont enjoy the new WoW Content so i jsut stick to teh classic stuff. but a Sancturary world for my MMO with Dark Themese and stuff like that woudl be soooo darn nice
I highly doubt i’ll buy another blizzard game of any style, with the priorities they’ve demonstrated lately.
Used to me more MMO-like earlier in S0/S1 but people didn’t like
I wish devs didn’t abandon that concept that early but it is what it is, we got a whole lot of reworks and finally about to get something that resembles a nearly-finished product
i mean our awesome playerbase crapped their panties already when it came to boss rotations… then people cried that a game in 2025 doesnt have a group finder ![]()
at this point i dont trust this so called “diablo community” at all. Id actually say that s3 was an eye opener, where the forums were full of cries about.. deterministic, dodgeable traps.
I think World of Diablo could be successful.
you also think youd be a great game designer. Ill never forget how you claimed that the LE team called out to you because they want you on their team xD.
Yes it was. That would be one of the biggest highlights of this games history. Players defeated by static immovable traps. It was so bad the devs had to nerf them.
On the subject of having an full-fledged MMO, as long as they don’t do to this game like they did Warcraft(abandon the RTS and moved all the game story into the MMO). I wouldn’t be bothered by it. If it’s not subscription base I may actually play it. I have no problems buying it just not constantly paying for it since I may not feel like playing some days and don’t want that obligation kicking in that I wasted money cause I missed a month.
That ashes of creation was just cancelled yea? All those people that donated millions to them for nothing lol.
dont get me started lol. I luckily bought a cheap steam account lol. i got a couple friends that invested 500 bucks XD
Oof, I got burned by pantheon and still waiting on it lol.
I think UnDecember is the closest thing to what Diablo might look like as an MMO and I don’t know if that really is terribly popular. It’s definitely an iARPG with lots of customization but has a more gem / POE thing going on.
Traps were bad because its a type mismatch. The game is fast paced and action oriented. Stopping and memorizing a trap pattern is the opposite. It bad design for this game. It was never going to work. It belongs in a different game.
yea, just imagine… expecting d4 players to actually pay attention…
when is you arpg releasing urza? i assume itll steal the majority of the diablo playerbase as the motto will be “easy, everyone wins, always”.
How fast does someone need to go that they can’t stop for a few seconds to gauge the lethality of a trap? I mean Other action games had traps in them why was it such a big problem in this one?
As I sad how fast does a player need to go? I don’t understand the mindset here so help me out.
