Still nothing on this. We need to know if the future of HC is dead or not.
Can confirm as of last night the scroll does not work on disconnect rest in peace my level 55 necromancer
Have you tried /cast [@self] raise dead
Are you trolling? Its an online game, there will always be issues, wanting something to be perfect all the time is irrational.
I only play HARDCORE in D3-RoS. I’ve been disconnected many times, usually because I didn’t stop playing when a thunderstorm blew up.
Only ONCE in 28 seasons, did I die when I was disconnected. And it was my own fault. I accidently kicked out the power cord from the socket.
D3/RoS they had ways to help you stay alive on disconnects. Once you understood how to play HARDCORE, you knew how you’d actually have to die 3 times in 2 minutes to be truly dead and have to make a new toon. And you learned when to recognize it and wait for the cooldown.
Just have to learn how it’s easy. And it is easy. It just doesn’t tell you everything you can do. You ahve to learn it.
Soon as I learn how to do it for D4, I will because hardcore is just more fun to have to worry about dying and try NOT to do it
Imagine being this guy?
Lol what are we going to do about this… most obvious answer in the world. Also this is nothing new.
I bet the data of said character is stored somewhere, nothing really goes away forever when it comes stored data. They could easily restore most of these cases.
That’s always been how hardcore is, like the overwhelming majority of your deaths will be due to server latency issues.
They said they’re going to make it so your character instantly uses a scroll of escape if a DC is detected.
I still wouldn’t play hardcore if you aren’t accepting of the idea that you’re going to lose almost every single character to latency and not to your own mistakes. This is how it’s been since Diablo 3 introduced hardcore, Blizzard won’t address it. I’ve lost 500 hour characters to DC’s and that’s when I gave up on playing hardcore.
No, the actual death itself only happens when you ignore the 2 free deaths you got from the cheat death powers and keep playing despite the fact both are now cooling down…that was D3-RoS hardcore
I haven’t finished D4 game yet, so I have no clue how to do hardcore yet. But THERE is a way, that will probably be different from the D3 way, but there will be a way, just have to find it first.
The devs know that death from lag will be a major problem in hardcore if they don’t do something…so they did do something, just how to figure it out first before you get it
The reason they do this is so one doesn’t kill switch themselves out of bad situations. I am pretty sure when the DC is on Blizzards end the game is turned off and you will be safe.
Yeah. That’s great if it’s a blizzard error but for the 90% of the time when it’s a standard internet problems it’d be nice if the items worked as they’re supposed to. I lost a lvl 49 character with 6 scrolls of escape in my inventory because I DCed and was told I was locked out of my account when I tried to quickly reconnect. I was at least aware of the risk of scrolls not working, but it’s still depressing. I get that bugs happen, but frankly this is just due to incompetence by the devs and there’s no excuse for it. The ability to securely track when a client-side application loses contact with the server and compare that to the server’s logged disconnect is not rocket science and in this case their inability to do so is resulting in sizable chunks of time and effort being wasted because a AAA company can’t figure out how network connections work. I mean… more wasted than one would typically waste playing a game to begin with.
Don’t play HC in always-online game /thread
D3 taught me to never do HC cause the server just can’t be trusted.
Just one question
How is it Blizzards fault if there is a power failure in your area
Just one answer.
Blizzard is not responsible for power loss. They are responsible for advertising a feature (Scrolls of Escape) that don’t work properly in these scenarios. Seems we must wait until Season 2 for this fix.
More or less. Sad part is, they clearly saw this and got the idea that it needed to be addressed and came up with a proper solution… but didn’t invest the basic level of skill that their development staff honestly probably has but were not allowed to put to good use. Looking at you, upper management. sigh Seriously, the server and client are BOTH aware of what the player’s actual inventory contains on DC. The server may not be completely aware of the difference between client-lag and fatal disconnection, but the the client-side component is CLEARLY aware of thing when it is no longer able to contact the server when you DC with no enemies around, but are mysteriously killed by enemies after you DC. I get that some level of basic enforcement for the hardcore concept is needed, but let’s be honest, They chose to the err on the side that screws over the player when we all know the always-online model is more about enforcing DRM and player-engagement to encourage further in-game and DLC purchases than it is encouraging player enjoyment. I feel like some level of resentment from the player-base is to be expected. Not to say that it isn’t already well-accounted for and fully planned on being ignored, though, unfortunately.
Doesn’t change the fact that the power loss at your end still results in a disconnect and the possible death of your HC character and can you imagine the outcry if for every time there is a bit of lag for half a second everyones scroll of escape got used and got taken to a safe place
A disconnect event sends a much different message to the client/server than a lag spike. It’s not like your character’s data just disappears the moment the character dies, the client has time to realize that a disconnect happened and rollback the death when the server and client components come to the conclusion that the player DCed and a scroll of escape should have been used.
Just lost a 77 HC barb, full health two monsters left 9k hp… boom disconnect msg blizzard app has error codes finally get back in days he’s dead… stacks of scrolls of escape. 12k thorns with heals on kill and enemies around, inside a dungeon WTF?? Anyone got anything back from this bull poop
