The history of the world is not a story of reinventing the wheel from scratch. It is about building a better mousetrap by improving on previous mousetraps. If you have no job or life you can make a concentrated effort at studying everything Diablo and building and testing new builds or you can study what others have already done, starting with a respectable build guide, and tweaking and improving it based upon what gear you find and your own personal play style.

Yes and no … someone had to invent the wheel before others could improve on it. Someone had to invent a flying machine before others could improve on it to get to the moon. All of the things we have today started with the initial invention. The history of the world is written by the original giants who’s shoulders everyone else has stood on.
I have a janky FO/Hydra build using Andy, Iceheart, Frostburn and Doombringer. 100% not meta and doesn’t even have capped armor. I can clear T8. Admittedly he doesn’t get the levels of Aether or kill bosses as fast as my homebrew CL or my Roxy CL or my Mekuna Fireball and certainly doesn’t come close to my Mekuna LS but yeah lots of builds can do T8 horde
As for other classes idk I only play Sorc so far. I haven’t got bored enough with it yet to look at other classes.
Yeah, I never got the need to classify "leveling’ builds as everything melts pretty easy until endgame. I always just pick something and play around with it until late game. Then I start getting serious
I wouldn’t disagree with either of you on this but… There are some builds that level faster than others. some that work better with janky gear. I wouldn’t say you need a special build to level, but you can clearly get it done more efficiently with some builds than others.
As long as my homebrew build can do T7 hordes Im cool with it. My S5 homebrew chain lightning - spear hybrid build without winterglass was perfectly fine and could carry torments.
It is not, you’ll need a meta build to do Torment IV and don’t let streamers and tryhards tell you, you needn’t worry about doing T4 content cause the same stuff drops in T1. Which is bogus AF because first off FOMO is a real thing and if you’re gonna introduce content then if you’re not partaking in that content even if it is harder version of something then you lose out. 2nd and more importantly the DROP RATES are much higher in T4 compared to T1.
I dunno… I play poison flurry victimize rogue no problem this season (with just a no-GA Tyraels btw, no other mythic). its a lil lacking but ive managed to clear most everything solo. is it difficult? yea. is it meta? heck no. but its still possible to do it. /shrug
You’re thinking of LS FO build, this is NOT that. It’s not even meta. It’s also very hard to find the right pieces. I just love how these forum babies are so delusional.
