Getting fed up now

Gold costs are absolutely out of whack for anyone who isn’t trading for rmt-inflated gold.

There is no need for every system to be a grind. They purposefully do so to keep us on the hamster wheel, so they can sell us more cosmetics and other stuff. That’s how Blizzard’s business model works.

The RNG enchanting model was already bad when it was in Diablo 3 more than a decade ago, and somehow they made it worse in Diablo 4 with the Tempering. Which is insane because they were ablet o successfully adapt Diablo 3’s bad Enchanting system into Diablo 4 from the get go, yet somehow managed to make it 100x worse in the Tempering System even though it’s basically the exact same thing.

This is either gross incurable stupidity and negligence, or purposefully being evil and making players suffer the grind for their bottomline. Neither possibility is a good thing, but that’s 2024 Blizzard for you.

I don’t understand why we can’t just choose what affix we want our Enchanter and Blacksmith to add to our gear. When you go to have a suit tailored, do you just close your eyes and tell your seamstress to surprise you? No. You tell them to get your measurements, you give them the design you want, and they make it.

Yet in Blizzard World everything is RNG. And worse, it’s RNG with temper limits. Absolutely, undeniably insane and braindead, but that’s Blizzard for you.

Honestly the gold costs kill it more for me than anything else. FFS a single first-tier masterwork reset is 5-million per attempt. The only meaningful way to get gold if you aren’t using that god-awful 3rd party site to trade is whispers. A full whisper for one reset. I’m so sick of whispers. It makes me feel like my time is being nickle-and-dimed for peanuts.

I just want to run the pit and nightmare dungeons but the rewards for both are absolutely terrible.

I just bricked 3 rings 2 necks and 3 one handers. I logged off. It feels really bad. I will be honest I am allowing it to piss me off big time. When you are holding your breath unintentionally while rolling, that indicates a problem lol. But yeah, I came to kill monsters, not play the slots.

Gold is another killer. the 5M refresh for MW is crazy. Again, why can’t I just choose what affix my supposed master smith is pounding out of my gear? If he’s just randomly fidgeting with my gear he’s not much of a master, now, is he?

I don’t do Diablo.Trade so I am always cash strapped in this game, because I play 5 characters and experiment with builds. Masterworking is so expensive and one refresh is 5M? redoing my paragon board is 4M. Masterworking at Tier 8 and up is 1M or more a pop. And I only earn 3-6M gold doing quests for a stupid head hanging on a tree.

I might have to start selling items on Diablo>Trade at this rate, but I play Diablo to play Diablo, not to play Wallstreet Simulator. This is the same crap we had to put up with in Diablo 3 with the AH.

So… you’re pro-temper caps then, since the way to get more attempts is to kill more monsters, whereas removing the cap would lead to more “playing the slots” and less killing monsters?

A simple /facepalm really doesn’t cover it.

It’s just weird really… even the OP seems to be invoking an issue with tempering, despite the fact that tempering has functionally zero issue with gold or materials. Massive conflation of ideas going on, and misattribution of where problems stem from.

Tempering makes getting items wildly more accessible, it’s not even close. People fail at tempering 2 and 3 ga items, and put the blame squarly on tempering when it fails, rather than the relative rarity of 2 or 3 ga items which are a MUCH larger part of the time-sink of a finished perfect item.

A bit of critical thinking goes a long way.

I don’t know for sure but I am not sure how the RNG works, I am pro not wanting to throw my mouse and log. Yeah, I know that’s a “me” problem, but I am not alone. It’s my opinion…

There is so much irony here it’s giving me a headache.

I mean, that’s fine and all, but you say you’re here to kill monsters and not play the slots, but a tempering cap being in place means you need more items relative to the number of tempering rolls, which means you kill more monsters relative to rerolling items.

You’re claiming in previous posts that tempering chances are weighted with literally zero evidence besides “it feels bad”, so needless to say, your opinion on critical thinking skills and irony isn’t all that important to me.

So you want to to just go straight to the blacksmith, choose your two temper stats, then masterwork and choose the boosted stats as well? You really want it to be that streamlined and easy? So, from a fresh seasonal start we can be geared up with all stats we want in a matter of days?

To be completely clear, he is absolutely right that gold income vs. gold-sync costs are absurdly out of whack without trading for rmt-inflated gold, even if he is completely wrong about tempering. The average cost to reroll a single, FIRST tier masterwork stat to the stat that you want on a 5 affix item is upward of 10million gold, which is exponentiated second and third tiers.

There is a MASSIVE scope between “just pick what you want” and the current 1 in 125 chance you have to hit all 3 tiers.

Corporations love people like you. You are the definition of the perfect customer.

2 “Uber” “Mythical” “Unique” items drop from first Andriel defeat. Skies and the new Chest piece. Nothing designates them from any other unique. Haven’t played since season 2. Sold, needed gold… now I realize… Resplendent sparks. Made a post here that got folks afraid of words. Ban. Nothing since. I have 1 loot page full of summoning crap because why? Tuskhelm, and Tibaults. No sense in wasting my time in the pit for nothing, or on bosses for nothing. Over 1200 hours. No Visage. No Grandfather. Just manufactured BS and Pusher nerds that I never thought I would see able to feed themselves let alone make more than the best tradesmen I ever knew.

And you’re a stupid moron.

Read my previous post history dating back to previous patches of D4. I’ve spent the majority of my time on this forum decrying terrible, anti-consumer business practices and lazy development.

Unlike you, because I can actually apply my brain and think critically, I am capable of determining what is an actual problem and what is a problem of perception.

Since you believe so whole-heartedly that stats are weighted in tempering, I’m sure you have access somewhere to a data-set that proves as such, accounting for the fact that you reroll 100% of the time when hitting a stat you dont want, and don’t reroll almost 100% of the time you hit a stat you do want?

I’ll wait, don’t worry.

Best of luck in life. You’ll need it.

So that’s a no on the evidence, then?

What a shocker.

Apply this to the entire world.
