Generic Charm sets: Any chance to do something interesting?

Anyone else feel there’s opportunity for the generic charm sets? They’re too level-gated to ever find a complete set, and underpowered to be useful in the endgame. They, very literally, have no place in the game.

Generic Charms:

  • Generic Charm sets - Too rare, useless, and level windowed to be effective

    • Brought up to power of Set Uniques, but only scale to 2 or 3 charm sets

      • Scoped on power of 60-75% dmg + Bonus effect

      • Scoped to 30% damage reduction + Bonus effect

    • Sets:

      • Practiced Technique Set

      • Slaughter Set

      • Mastery Set

    • Examples:

      • Slaughter Set:

        • [2] All damage increased by 70%, but resource cost stat is increased by 50%

        • [3] Every ability cast that requires resources reduces damage by 10%, up to 30% for 8 seconds. Lucky hit is increased by [x] equal to resource cost increase.

      • Mastery Set

        • [2] Skill damage is increased by 2x of that skills level, +4 to All skills

        • [3] Gain damage reduction equal to your highest skill, up to 30%. Gain a golden aura and global CDR equal to the [highest skill - 30] if your highest skill is over 30.

I don’t think I’ve ever used them; they take a long time to drop. We could have generic sets for all classes—like ones for basic skill damage, ultimates, etc. That would be much better.

They need something indeed.

Your suggestions are great. They managed to make them work in D3, they just need to have viable bonuses as stated.

They can be great complimentary sets for end game, and also pack a small punch as a starter set.

If you take your time levelling instead of rushing with exploits you should find a couple of these sets already. Unfortunately they really have no use outside of levelling. You MIGHT be able to use one of them in an endgame support build of some kind (Survival). I can also see the idea behind another set being used with the mythic seal to reduce set reqs by 1 and having a second full set along with your main (Slaughter). Unfortunately these sets no longer appear at max level and there are usually better options. I’m fine with where they are right now to be honest, they don’t need a massive rework and not everything in game needs to be useful for some endgame build.
