I was thinkin the other day on how the devs said, with loot 2.0, that you take your gear along for a journey …
I thought of a new system on how we can actually take a piece of gear on a journey…
It takes already existing systems and combines them in a way that really improves the gear… the journey… an end game gear systems… and increased build crafting…
For starters…
Rare gear drops with higher values than a legendary (since theres less affixes)
We are now able to add 1 temper to Rare gear…
Also able to masterwork that rare gear.
A Rare gear needs 4 masterworking to allow you to choose 1 additional affix…
(Less RNG)
Masterwork 4 more times to now uprade the Rare to a Legendary…
Also choose 1 additional affix
1additional temper (any temper)
Can now add aspect as normal
(Less RNG)
Yes its like a legendary piece now…
however, since we took the gear “on a journey” with us… putting time and resources into it…
(Plus its natural higher values)…
it is now better than a normal legendary drop…
(equivalent to around a 1GA at this point…)
*Side mechanic: We could also need a certain kill threashold in order to level weapon from rare to legendary.
Upgrading to GA legendary:
Now we can masterwork it 8 times to upgrade its normal legendary status to an actual 1GA.
(now equivalent to a 2GA)…
Whats awesome here is we can also choose which affix we want to GA.
Continue upgrading legendary…
8x masterworking per GA…
up to GA3 level.
Once GA3 level:
Then you need 12 masterworking to make it a GA4…
(it will be equivalent to a GA5 if there was one … or a mythic at this point)
But better…
Now we can choose:
*1 additional affix… (6 total)… 3 are chosen over time helping to eliminate RNG…
*1 additional temper (any temper)
*1 additional aspect (2 aspects now)
To me this is a long term gear progression system that reflects “taking a piece of gear on a journey with you”…
You get to really focus level it and upgrade it to a very specific way for your particular build…
Plus additional aspects on each piece will help with build crafting… really making more unique builds viable and improved weapon journey.
You could proply do all this before even finding a 4GA or even a mythic for some…
Of course you would need to make normal item drops significantly lower so you are able to take the journey… make items seem more valuable
Also… no need for loot filter in this case as well
