Seems Frenzy Barb from Season 2 is back. Paingorger makes things so much better. I want to use Ancient Oath but losing basic skill affix and 100% aspect is just too much. Why can’t Ancient Oath be a 1 hander…
Paingorger + Aspect of Adaptability + Aspect of the Moonrise?
Yeah pretty much. I have 60% Rapid aspect plus Hectic aspect to reset cooldowns. I was messing with Power Kick but I only got about 3 million yellow numbers from it with 205 Fury.
Unique Weapons are pretty lame because some fundamentally change how a Skill works and makes them either kind of meh to okay, or average to exceptional. Fields of Crimson for example for a 2H Weapon is stupid. That should be either a Paragon Legendary Node or part of Gushing Wounds or Enhanced Rupture.
Ancient’s Oath is very similar in this regard. As a Weapon Mastery Skill it sucks and the verbiage is that it grants the bonus damage only to Pulled enemies (so does not work on bosses?). I can’t remember if this is true or not but I love Steel Grasp but it eats Overpowers (and totally should not). If ever a Skill should not Overpower, that would be one. Ground Stomp, Kick (*except Power Kick), Steel Grasp, Flay, and Rend should NOT Overpower. Ground Stomp, Kick, and Steel Grasp do not have Arsenal Weapons assignable, so this makes sense. They are Support Skills and (with the exception of Power Kick) do measely damage so an OP is wasted.
I am tired of having to take Shouts, WW, and WoTB with my 2nd Core Skill JUST to control Overpowers.
Kick REALLY needs to be an AoE like Ground Stomp and Ranks should absolutely add Damage as well as lower CD like Charge. One of Kick’s big problems is because it is NOT an Arsenal Skill, you have a TON of damage that does not get calculated for it.
I had about 300 Max Fury with Seligs, Max Fury rolls in every slot I could get it, Paragon, and Resourcefulness Elixir, Veteran’s Brawler max, Brawling Paragon and you would think Power Kick would deal in the Billions for dumping ALL of your Fury and not being easily spammable and only really affecting a small group IMMEDIATELY close to you in a VERY ODD and small cone. Nope. It will hit less than a poorly geared HoTA even Critting, Overpowering, while Berserking, on a Bleeding and Vulnerable target. Wtf?

That is the build I use for Basic and as the kids say, it Slaps. Rapid sounds great, but you really need to alternate to mark enemies constantly, apply Vuln and weapon swap super fast. I am considering swapping Frenzy and Battle Trance for Lunging with Rapid.
Hectic aspect can be used to reset cooldowns. Have you try Power Kick with 300 Fury with Banish Lord Tailsmen and Red Furor for Deathblow?
Yes, last Season I actually ran a Pure DB build and it wrecked stuff but I really dislike Kick. My DB scales based on Max Fury and Power Kick drains all your Fury so while it is nice gaining Berserk and Vuln, you have a VERY small window to try to Max out your Fury before the DB. Managing Overpowers and building back Fury kind of sucks.
I found it worked best to use a WA DB Build where I basically spammed Skills and could guarantee every DB was an OP Crit. The Attack Speed really helped and playing it slightly different than HoTA feels better and more fluid.
I’ll look into it. We have Adaptation now. Gaining Fury isn’t an issue at the moment. I just want somewhere to dump it.
Lunging is superior.
I’ve been doing a Lunging Charge build all season. Slapped Moonrise on my amulet (no Selig yet) and now it’s hitting for 5M+
Grandpaps is BiS
Kick is not needed. Especially if you have Selig.
Outside of Exploit, how are you keeping Vuln up?

Running frenzy for two months, only dmg dealer, aspect of moonrise is finally a gamechanger - doubles the dmg, it rips 500k - 1,5mil per hit with paingorgers ofc without grandfather (ah, one can dream). Vuln is up all the time with steel grasp, the hits have good aoe, you grab pack with grasp, it triggers paingoers and one-two hits mobs gone, nps running high ND 95+. Stack basic dmg everywhere.
Switch to Lunging with a Seligs (if you got it) and Ramas/1H Mace. Bonebreaker, Blood Boil, Earthstriker, Charge for Tibaults/Unstopabble/Berserk and constant OPs. The Paingorger damage is significantly more despite Battle Trance ranks.
Charge marks far more enemies consistently and you don’t necessarily mind when it eats an OP unlike Steel Grasp.
Way too much focus on OP here. You can’t run a proper basic build with all that nonsense.
Indeed, we are running frenzy, not charge build.
I switch to Charge since Steel Grasp still has that ‘delay’ after casting. Got a point into Outburst for thorn against those pesky range monsters so Paingorger can take care of them. Though Charge kill most mobs already while Frenzy just clean up.
Taking Charge instead of Steel Grasp is not a “Charge Build”. It is also more than 1 button Frenzy clicking as marking enemies with Paingorgers consistently is important for AoE.
Heya Frenzied ones, did we get something for frenzy in the upcomming season? How are ya prepering? Im shreding nd100s with frenzy, 3 shouts and steel grasp with ease, duriel dies in like 5 secs. Thinking about crafting tyraels might right from the start when patch drops. It could be a usable addittion.
