Frame Rate Hitching / Stuttering on PC 4090

I don’t have a working hdd light on my system, is there any software you can use to monitor it? Also which SSD are you using?

I have the same issue and have had with all betas. It can happen while standing still or moving, no mobs or lots of mobs, max setting or lowest settings. It feels completely random and is making playing the game not fun.

I will probably refund my collector’s box and game until this is fixed, honestly.

Same issue here. 4090 + 13980HX laptop.

Tried everything, this is so disappointing, basically got new laptop for this.

I notice the last time I got overheated was when i plugged in the laptop battery (for a few mins). Could the power consumption/usage be of some role to this? Where can I see the setting, maybe when it is plugged in overrides some frame limits that I ve set and thats why it goes bad.

Just guessing here, please share your experiences.

I have similar issue to you except I’m using a 7950X3D and a 4090.
The past 2 betas were flawless, 4k max settings around 350-400 fps. This new Server Slam beta I’m only getting 250fps and lots of intermittent stutters, when I look at HWInfo64 the effective clock for 3DVCache die goes to 5050MHz on all cores when the stutter happens.

I’m usually not one to complain that much, but this Beta is really trash for me (and im not talking about the nerfs).
I played for combined 40-50 hours last 2 betas, 96% was great (server disconnect not considered).
This beta i have so many frame stutters its awful, even in small dungeons. reducing graphics, playing with DLSS, reducing graphics to Mid-low does not help at all. Kyovashad (or however it is spelled) makes me almost puke how suttery it is.

RTX 2080 TI, 3700X (older hardware i know) 1440p.

last 2 betas playing on high (almost maxed) was no problem at all.

I am having the exact same issue at the moment.

My current build -
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU - RTX 4080 MSI

This needs to be fixed. Previous Betas run smooth so far, but this one here with that stutters / frame drops is annoying and keep me away from playing more.

I tried to tweak everything, but no seetings fixed it. @Blizzard please fix it!

Same here.

With a 3080, i7 12700k, 32GB DDR5-5600

This is depressing. Mostly because there is not one official reply to this other than “remove dust from your case” what is complete first lvl support bs.

About to refund my 100 bucks if this problem doesn’t get acknowledged and adressed soon.

Hey guys i seems to experience stuttering also, its constant stutter, after 5sec its smooth and goes back again. I am literally hearing my GPU stutter in the same tempo as in the game. Could any of you confirm if its the same as in the yt clip?
link to yt video

I have played alot of high end game and in non of these got any problems with gpu.
spec: 5060x, RTX3070, 32gb ram, M2

I am having the same issue. Here is something you can test with and maybe the devs can use. If you go to one of the tunnels in the game that is lit by lanterns they swing on their own without you have to run around. I found the stutter would occur every now and then just standing there. You can turn on FPS by hitting CTRL + R on your keyboard and watch the frames drop in half sometimes. I find this particularly interesting because you are not introducing new assets (textures models etc). The only calculations would be shadows from the swinging lights.

Secondly I also tried turning everything to the lowest settings and this occurs still.

Lastly, I tried removing all of the high res texture options but even on that I could still get this to happen.

Yeah something is diff from the first beta. It didn’t have this hitching in ultra.

I’m on 4090/13900k but running 1440p@180hz and it hitches if I run in Ultra settings no matter what I set DLSS3 too(I use DLAA) and frame gen don’t matter much either. Tried turning a few gfx things down, but it’s still bad until I drop down to High gfx settings. Then at High it runs smooth finally.

My fps is fine, it’s traversal into new areas that seems to do it mostly, but idk…still observing.

FPS stuttering almost exactly every 38 seconds, no matter the graphic options. Happening everywhere on map, in world as well as in dungeon. I have recorded video with High and Low settings as well.

Game is playable, but definitely not something I enjoy :slightly_frowning_face:

Bump.

I have the exactly same issue on my Windows 11 / 4090 / i9-13900k setup.
It seems like the user can’t do anything to fix it.

I hope Blizzard is going for this problem. They need to. Sometimes it stutters once in 20 seconds and sometimes 2 times in 4 seconds. And when fighting against mobs, it gets even worse.

Please fix this. I really can’t enjoy the game as much as I want to with these fps drops and stutters.

Once thing I’ve just realised as well is that I can hear the coil whine (normal 4090 issue) stop for the fraction of the second that the frames drop.

Seeing the same issue.
Was running a RTX2080 in the first open, 144fps > 4fps periodically, for no apparent reason - no related spikes in CPU/RAM/Disk.
Now running an RTX4080 - identical. Again sitting at 144fps (screen refresh - will happily run at 200+ but no point). Once again, periodic stutters down to 4fps - always 4 fps.

I was seeing similar in Snowrunner - some community member determined it was caused by device polling at the OS level in that instance, released a patch to prevent the interference… Feels bloody similar here. Its certainly not related to the HWs inability to keep up!

Changed settings up down and sideways makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.

Very very frustrating!

–EDIT–
Post in Beta thread discussing same stuttering - called out similar to my above point, re: device polling.
Cant test in game now, of course, so jumped back into Snow Runner that has the same symptoms for me. Setting my local network to Public, to disable network discovery - insta-fixed stuttering there. Can see it doing discovery passes easily enough, open Device Manager and have it on 2nd monitor, it will refresh when running a discovery, every 20 or so seconds for me, at which point the device list will refresh. Coincidentally about the same rate of stutters…
With the network set to public - no stutters!
There is a further callout to disable the SSDP Discovery Service, which does similar polling for uPnP, worth keeping in the back of your mind.

I think it’s hilarious how much you guys paid for your rigs when it runs buttery smooth in my 1070 from 5 years ago!

Sign me up for the list of people who have this problem. I happened to catch that my GPU load drops to 0 and then goes back under load when the stutter occurs.

I didn’t have this problem during the last beta and haven’t changed anything with my setup aside from updating to the newest GPU driver and keeping up with Windows Updates… more accurately, I haven’t performed any hardware changes.
