enough is enough. Not only that we are forced to play on low settings even with high-end systems also there is no one helping out. What do you guys think? Its gonna work itself out? No its not! This was and isnt even funny anymore.
I tried EVERYTHING including even updating Bios, hard frame locks, different settings, reflex on/off, different programs in the Background to force it (OBS for example) etc…
Please read my logs (D8D887ED-9923-4A99-8419-F48E5964733B) and tell me EXACTLY what is happening whenever this game crashes. My D4 Crash folder is full of fenris reports.
My PC/GPU even hard-crashed multiple times by turning Monitors off and restarting.
System:
5800x
3070 TI (Gigabyte)
32 GB of RAM
To all the forum trolls who are gonna say “GPU is defective” - No its not. Im using this PC for my Job and im having noo issue what soo ever with any different application or Game!
And finally: Its not enough to say “Our engineers looked into the reports and said they are right - The Game needs more ressources than expected and DEAL WITH IT”.
Are you seerious? People bought the game looking at the system requirements. This is a sh1tty behaviour so please fix your game or allow refunds cause of fake news!
Vram ramping up without dumping
GPU spikes to 100 for a split second
crash
everytime.
Sorry for being as constructive as im used to but this is nuts man!
Same problem here. Was running fine yesterday. New computer with 4090. I dont know what to do besides not play the game.ALL other apps run fine except D4. Running windows 10. Fenris crash. My game loads but than crashes within 30 secs. Blizzard could you reply.Please.
Same issue here. After several minutes D4 makes my screen go black, my GPU fan ramps to 100%, then I need to hard restart to get the screen to turn back on.
Basically saying they are still collecting Data now exactly knowing whats causing the issue. He read my logs and he was saying “something with graphic” basically. Its a 90% guessing game.
Just so u know this isnt gonna be fixed any time soon.
i’ve changed so many settings over the last week. these couple settings fixed my PC issues (for now) it seems.
in game:
turned off DLSS
turned off Reflex Low Latency
deleted ALL folders and files in these directories:
(this DID cause me to crash after logging in because it had to render new data but after the crash everything was fine)
(AMD 5900x + 3080)
%LocalAppData%\NVIDIA\DXCache
dx12
%LocalAppData%\NVIDIA\GLCache
OpenGL & Vulkan
Changed Nvidia Control Panel Shader Cache to 10GB from default
Sadly Silent, i feel this might be the only way to send a wake up call to developers and publishers that this kind of stuff is unacceptable this day and age and for how long this game was in development plus all the betas.
I was hoping we wouldn’t have to resort to flat out withholding funds and getting our money back, but if that is what it takes to get answers and fixes it’s all we got.
Same boat. No bloatware (except for razer and nvidia), no recent updates, no new devices plugged in. And yet, 9+ fenris crashes in the past 12 hours. Have tried scanning and repairing the game once. I remember that my VRAM usage was sitting at 60% yesterday once I brought a few settings down, its constantly at 95%+ now with even lower settings.
When troubleshooting the VRAM leak I tried reducing the size of my page file and found that the game wouldn’t even make it to the character screen. It’d crash with the Fenris error.
It may be that others can get past the Fenris error by increasing the size of your page file.
My game is constantly crashing now too, on an Intel Arc a370m mobile GPU. I wasn’t having this issue before until yesterday, now I can’t go 15 minutes without the game crashing.
I resolved the issue by rolling back my Intel graphics driver to an older version. I’m using an Intel ARC mobile GPU (a370m) and since performing a clean install of the older driver version 31.0.101.4382 I’ve been playing for around 4 hours without crashing.
Glad I am not the only one. It’s maddening that I spent $100 on a game I cannot play. Sometimes it runs fine. Other times, like 2 nights ago, I crash every 60 seconds. I have crashed 4 times today alone. I can’t even enjoy the game with friends which is why I bought it in the first place. I am sick of Devs putting out broken games and making us, the paying customer, the equivalent of beta testers.
If someone started a class-action against any of these developers I would be the first to sign up. The mental stress of trying to figure out if the crash was on my end isn’t worth double what I paid.
I play on a gaming laptop and this is the only game that gives me problems. Something I’ve found recently that helps is going into the Settings and forcing WIndows to always use my nVidia GPU for the Diablo IV client (not Battle.NET… did that once by accident… LOL)
The problem seems to be related to D4 opening DirectX devices with goofy settings – perhaps in an attempt to mitigate some other issues? – regardless, if you let Windows choose it sometimes opens the DX object on a different GPU then something goes wrong and the game freezes or crashes. By forcing it to always use the same GPU for everything it seems to run much smoother.
Without doing this I crashed every 5-20 minutes on average. With the forced GPU setting I’m getting 2-3 hour sessions now… long enough that I want to quit before it crashes. I’m still getting used to that… well, until Battle.NET went rogue this morning and refused to stop crashing but that’s a whole different set of problems.
Oddly I had no problems with Windows choosing my GPU until the 6th… I played both Beta weekends, Server Slam, and even early access (the first 4-ish days) without issues. Something changed after the 6th and it caused these problems. At least I have a partial work around. Now I’m slowly ramping up video settings to see what I can handle.
I’m on my 3rd full uninstall/reinstall for these issues.
I play a lot, and haven’t figured out what potential triggers are for Fenris crashes, or whether the game can recover from them. I’ve had them in nightmare dungeons, helltides, selling items at vendors in town, and just standing around.
usually I can just restart the game. But, twice now I’ve had no recovery… every attempt to start the game is a grey screen before the Blizzard splash screen, and then an instant close and the all-to-familiar Fenris error report that goes nowhere.
but hey, at least it’s not shutting off the power to my PC anymore (I think this was an overcurrent limit on my 650W power supply. I locked cut scene frames to 30fps to solve that. At least, I think that’s what did it.)
Anyway, for the Fenris crashes, i’ve tried the disable chroma=1 “fix”, scan and repair, deleting shader caches, locking frame rates, and a bunch of other suggestions. Nothing has worked.
Yeah, they had to have done something. One of their updates, I’m sure. I was able to play the game for hours without issue at launch, but about a week ago it started throwing the Fenris error all the time.
