Feedback on T4 Loot: The "3 and 4 Star" Drop Rate is Killing Motivation

Hi Devs,

I am writing this on behalf of a group of dedicated players who have reached the endgame in Torment IV. We love the core loop of Diablo 4, but we have reached a point where we are seriously considering quitting until Season 12 (or indefinitely) due to the current state of itemization.

The Problem:

Currently, farming T4 feels like “vendoring hundreds of items” just to manage bag space, with almost zero meaningful progress. While T4 gives more loot, it doesn’t feel like it gives better odds for high-tier gear. Specifically, the drop rates for 3-star and 4-star (Greater Affix) items feel abysmally low, even after hundreds of runs.

Our Suggestion:

Quality over Quantity: Decrease the total number of “crap” items that drop in T4 to reduce the exhausting bag management.

Increase High-Tier Odds: Rebalance those drop tables to slightly increase the chance of 3-4 GA items. At this stage of the game, players need a “carrot on a stick” that feels achievable, not a one-in-a-million lottery.

Bad Luck Protection: Consider a system where consistent T4 grinding or boss kills slightly improve the odds of a high-GA item dropping over time.

We want to keep playing, but right now, the lack of reward for the time invested makes the game feel “not fun” once you hit the T4 ceiling. We hope to see these adjustments soon so we have a reason to stay in Sanctuary.

We, we who???
Not me, for sure…
Drop rates are perfectly fine…

T4 is not a 3 or 4 GA gear drop festival…

not sure what you consider perfectly fine, but vendoring thousands of items isn’t enjoyable.

You’ll always have the blacksmith…
Just one click, and

Thanks for your opinion, you are certainly entitled to it. I wasn’t attempting to speak for some random like you I don’t know. I was merely expressing my opinion and that of a group of players that is getting frustrated with the state of play.

If you want to run hundreds of T4 runs and sift through thousands of junk items only to vendor all of them that is your problem but it is not a game I want to play.

I spent in excess of twelve hours yesterday and did not even see an upgrade. Motivation definitely depletes after sessions like that.

This is cope or blind defense of a bad game design.

The drop rates of items that are worth ANYTHING, like literally anything to your build is garbage. Blizzard don’t care cause they want you to basically play forever, this is known. However, blindly defending them over a bad design is pathetic.

What’s REALLY pathetic is requesting

Your

just want all the goodies handed in a silver plate…

Sorry, but ANY RPG is not like that…

Speaking of which, I can’t do that anymore because I’ve reached 999k Coiling Wards and salvaging armor will make those drop all over the place.

As a matter of fact I stopped salvaging legendary/unique armor since weeks ago because I foresaw this happening, but I still can’t stop it because I have to salvage mythics that yield 1k each.

WoW is just like that. Do you have any idea how easy it was to gear my Paladin? They literally have specific raid pieces you can buy from running a few mythic dungeons every week so long as you have been in a raid that downed the boss it drops from. It’s SOOOO easy to target farm WoW. This game’s loot system is little more than “Trashmaster’s Inventory Manager 2025: How much junk can you scrap today!” Quality over quantity is EXACTLY what this game needs.

Additionally, give us the ability to scrap from inventory as opposed to going to town. Stop dropping so many nightmare sigils that it takes 3 trips to town to scrap them all and just drop the crafting mats to make them so we can just roll them. Same with gems.

The fact that SO MANY non-Ancestral legendary and unique items drop in T4 is a joke. You NEED Ancestral Lego/uniques for progression, t4 is end game progression. No other MMO’s drop junk from early game progression when you’re in the end game, just to have “filler” b.s. and make the loot look impressive because of bulk. A bunch of crap is still just crap.

WoW is the other way…
:backhand_index_pointing_left:

And if Bkli$$ would want Diablo to be like WoW, wouldn’t they already merged both games???
Diablo was here before WoW, and they decided to make TWO RPG’s, instead of keeping Diablo a RPG game series and Warcraft a strategy game series…
But no, :money_bag: talked more…

So please, let WoW be WoW & Diablo be Diablo, for better or for worst…

And you got them, just keep grinding…
T4 is perfectly doable with 1 or 2 GA gear…

I am of the same perspective as OP; running dungeons/hordes etc hundreds of times, is such a bog when you’re getting nothing but 750 uniques. Hundreds of them. And not seeing a single piece of gear worthy of spending all the saved mats is demoralizing.
