I wanted to share my feedback regarding the Shroud of False Death armour and its visual effect.
At present, the permanent invisibility-style VFX with no toggle significantly reduces my enjoyment of transmogrification. A large part of Diablo IV’s appeal for me is visual progression chasing armour sets, experimenting with looks, and expressing a build visually. When a character is effectively invisible for the majority of gameplay, that layer of the experience is lost.
As a result, this also has a knock-on effect on motivation to pursue or purchase cosmetics. If most moment-to-moment gameplay is spent unable to see your character or armour, it becomes harder to justify chasing skins or engaging with the shop at all.
It’s also worth noting that Shroud of False Death is effectively a required item for many high-end builds, including those promoted in creator guides that Blizzard actively partners with. This means a large proportion of the player base is likely to be running it, not by choice of aesthetics but by build viability. Because of that, this issue potentially affects far more players than a niche or optional item would.
I am so tired of being invisible every season that I will potentially choose to not use Shroud, and it feels really bad to know that there is a trade-off between build power and simply being able to see my dude.
A VFX toggle would preserve the fantasy of the item while allowing players to continue engaging with transmog and cosmetics.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If anyone on the team could indicate whether this is on the radar, I’d be appreciative.
