Disclaimer: I still think Diablo IV has the best gameplay and “feel” of any ARPG on the market. That being said, it’s being held back by some horrible design decisions.
We are back to square one with itemization and loot. Yes tempering and Loot Reborn helped but there is no excitement in finding items anymore. Whether you are on T1 or T3, it doesn’t matter. 99% of drops are crappy ilvl 750 or base uniques that are near worthless. It’s boring and broken. Wanna loop summoned bosses for 30+ tries? You’ll most likely get the same crappy and boring loot whether you are on pent, T1 or T3, it doesn’t matter. BETTER loot should drop in higher tiers, period.
No magic find is a very dumb decision
Even though I prefer the action of DIV, I am months in the current league of POE and STILL finding items I have never seen. This is a massive issue for DIV.
The need for pretty much having to play a meta Spiritborn build this season is stifling. EVERY class should be viable. They aren’t in the current form.
There is zero lack of progression and this feels more like a mobile game in a grinding sense. Grinding obducite and glyph levels is NOT fun. Hunting for loot is fun. That is why we play ARPGs.
Blizzard did what they intended, market a content patch as an “expansion” and get people to come back and pay $60 then drop off again. They’ll continue doing this, this is their winning formula.
The “expansion” didn’t even contain Mephisto or a prime evil, that’s how obvious they are going to milk this iteration and bastardised version of “Diablo” (still without Diablo in the game). I mean they didn’t even include an ending cinematic, that’s how money grubbing they are now. Ending cinematics don’t sell, intro cinematics do because you can market them.
Just quit, uninstall and stop giving your money to this team until they release something actually proven to be good and not a quick cash grab then refuse refunds.
A few weeks back, I would have thought this response was unreasonable and overblown. Now, it’s completely logical. They added a $25 DLC with a new class and new area with a bunch of cheap gimmicks to get people to spend money. It’s sad because there is SO much potential in this game but this current form of the game absolutely sucks. THE LOOT CHASE IS WHAT MAKES ARPGS FUN. There is not loot chase in this game.
Im at a loss trying to explain what the freak they were thinking with this patch. So much potential wasted - the woke story lines, constant Mat grinding for nothing, the lack of any bosses that make a difference or any relpayable areas - IE Boss Runs…
Im playing a SB and currently in T3 at around 160 paragon - 3 weeks in Im about ready to start an ALT because of boredom on this character. Im only playing it for a few more days and getting the seasonal journey done - currently 60% - I cannot kill Andariel or Duriel yet and keeep running out of Mats …
I am right there with you. It doesn’t get any better as you get further, trust me. I got the season journey done but like everything else in this “expansion”, it’s hollow and boring before you know it. I would move on to something else, not roll another underpowered class.
Yea I know thats WHy I fully embraced the SB and played a less OP Build - Touch of Death but its very solid. I just need to run 10000000000 Pits to get my glyphs leveld- I have 1 at 45 and the other 3 at 30 - I just hit my 4th paragon Board. Im guessing the Glphs are where the power lies this season ?? I cannot complete higher than a level 54 PIT atm and I have every items needed for my build and masterworked 3 of 5 items so far. Its just too much of a GRIND- When does the FUn start again ??
This is something Blizz doesn’t seem to get: interesting items. POE has unique items that have sparked builds around them because of some cool interaction or because it has a downside to it that gets turned into an upside. The build crafting potential around 100s of cool items is what POE has going for them that D4 doesn’t. Even on release POE had more items and better designed items compared to the absolute sh1tshow that we had before loot reborn. Let that sink in for a moment: a 10year old game had more and better items on release than D4 on release and even +1 year in and even after a complete loot rework.
POE does suffer from the same 99.9% drops are garbage but the 0.1% that isn’t garbage is so much more exiting that it dwarfs every item in D4 by a mile.
How Blizz hasn’t learned anything from D2, D3 or POE for D4 is just mindblowing.
i dont understand what stifing is, but what i can say is that since this is a new expac for bliz, it is expected that the new class will be the opest. This happens in every game of bliz since more than 10 years, so if you dont know it, then well its your folt not bliz.
We all expected OP but I dont think even blizzard intended it to be this out of whack. It’s pretty much game breaking op. Everything else feels like you are playing level 1 with nothing still while being in the best of the best gear comparatively.
Well yes, i do agree that LOOT is broken as hell in this new system.
I’m not a 100% fan of S4 changes. Wide allowance of uniques that are not uniques anymore is boring. I’m not happy or suprised when a new item drops. Looting items feels like zombie minigame. Yellow or blue items are good only in like first 30-60min of new character.
Playing campaign means you hit TOP items in A3-4 and since then you wont find any upgrades until end of the story.
Whole loot now concetrates on finding GA item, attributes became obsolte because of smart loot and almost always high rolls on item.
I guess many players complained about bad rolls and wrong items

I am using Earth Spike Druid. A build so trash it does not exist on any tier list. A build so unpopular I’ve ever seen only 1 guide about it.
I’m at pit89; can kill Varshan/Grig/Zyr/Beast on T4 and so on.
I cannot imagine the world where people are seriously hitting a wall at T1.
99.99% of drops are crap - game loop is kill mobs - loot chests - vendor every item - repeat!
Ilvl 800 oranges should be reigning from the sky on T4 - with codex affixes in the new range only - instead they rarer then hen’s teeth and when they do turn up the GA is always on something useless like cold resistance and the roll for the codex so low you out levelled it on day 1 - I’ve heard this season being renamed as “loot aborted” and i think that’s about right!
Echo +1 to like and support! 1. Hunting for loot is fun - 50% 2. Pushing character build in a challenging endgame (better than current Pit iteration) activity with smart strong monsters (and leaderboards) is fun - 50%
If MF affix is in game it leads to situation where you are “forced” to use MF gear and in the end you never use best gear and playing your class to full potential.
