Farming these boss mats is AWFUL

What I would love to see is salvaging Unique items gives essence/mats that you can use to craft ANY mats for bosses at alchemist. So even if you don’t get the unique item you need, at least it gets you closer to it. Now, when some unique you don’t need drops, only thing you feel is complete disappointment and I don’t think thats good for game. Unique item dropping should be a win always.

If you’re in a hurry, or there’s a leaderboard / ladder / race going on, sure. But, going in you should already have known that D4 is still a young live game and early in the endgame department. Gonna be a while until we can blast this game like D3. Well, you can, but you’re gonna be bored. Like now.

So on average you need to clear 50 Helltides before you see an uber unique drop. Hmm… no thanks. And if you want a specific uber unique, you can multiply that amount by 5 :rofl:

Acquiring living steel is by far the worst of all. I’ve collected materials for a dozen or so Varshans doing whispers during blood harvest but the Helltide grind is boring as hell (no pun intended).

I was lucky enough to get an Andariels on my first Duriel but I don’t think I’ll have the energy to endlessly farm Helltides to try for a Shako.

But farming mats is like 95% of the game at the moment…dont you enjoy d4?

If this game had an auction house, you could just trade mats from other activities for living steels.

This is a 2023 game without an auction house though. A 2023 GAME WITHOUT AN AUCTION HOUSE.

Like it or not we are all Farmer Teds

  • Well, if they put in a Matchmaking and Group Finder tool, it would be a good start.
  • The next step is changing the World Bosses to work like Guardian Raids in Lost Ark. They would be always on-demand with limited successful clears per day.
  • Weekly World Boss challenges would be a separate queue system and be limited to clearing (3) different hard-mode World Bosses
  • Hell Tides should always be active and move around the world. There should be more unique Events and Strongholds can be invaded.
  • Get rid of RNG Affixes for NMD. Just let players set what they want. While you can only have 1 Positive Affix, the more Negative Affixes you take will reward more XP, Legendaries, and higher Unique/Uber Unique Drop rates to compensate for added challenge and clear times.
  • Want a challenge but don’t want to group with other people? Have no fear, you can now set scaling to any range of Party Members ul until the Max Party size. All standard bonuses of a Party and Co-Op will apply.
  • Looking for more challenges? A Hellspire and Ascendent Spire have been introduced. These are Rogue-Like challenges that are random and different every floor you climb. The Ascendent Spire progresses in difficulty as you climb it but progress is saved after every floor. There are unique character-bound bonuses for completing each floor in addition to the completion bonus and drops. This is the safer of the two Spires.
  • Hellspire is a little more challenging and every level you descend, there is a madness timer. Once the timer gets to 0, your character succumbs to madness and starts to gain afflictions. Successfully clearing a level will cleanse any Affliction. Hellspire is more of a gambling system. After every 5 floors, you will face a Boss. Killing the Boss will reward you with Trapped Souls. You can choose to cash out or risk it and continue on. If you die 3 times, you will lose your progress and any Trapped Souls you may have gained up until this point. Enemies in Hellspire only drop Potions, Gold, and Crafting Materials. All Loot is obtained from extracting with your Trapped Souls. The more Trapped Souls you have gives you larger caches with more loot and higher chances for high-rolled gear. Like Obols, you can purchase specific Caches from the Ferryman who takes you to and from Hell, allowing effective target farming. At a certain point, the drop rates may cap out, but you can continue onward earning high level Grand Caches.
  • Hellspires have certain benchmarks that when you reach them, you are able to purchase Tokens from the Jeweler allowing you to start at higher tier difficulties. Hellspires start off at LVL 70 and benchmarks increase as you level up. The following are benchmarks:
  • LVL 70 (Default)
  • LVL 75 (Tier 1)
  • LVL 85 (Tier 2)
  • LVL 100 (Tier 3)
  • LVL 120 (Tier 4)
  • LVL 155 (Tier 5 - You cannot purchase Tokens for this Tier however there is a chance they will drop in Tier Hellspire from Treasure Goblins or Bosses.

Hard agree.
-Spent all last season target farming one NON uber unique, character reached level 100 without ever getting it.
-They announce that you can target farm a unique. My heart soars.
-Season begins and I realize I somehow failed to realize you have to target farm mats to target farm the boss to hopefully target farm the unique.
-Kill me.

Yeah got like five days out of D4 not bad. The no economy, D3 style just isn’t for me.

This is where I am with the game, so I stopped playing.

I defeated Duriel a few times (all solo) and yeah I’m just at peace with this season.

How many hours did that take?

Throwing in my 2 cents so take it for whatever its worth. I’m a mostly solo player. I hit level 100. Went straight to the new bosses and Duriel. Aside from the material issues all of these bosses are boring. It’s clear they were rushed out and lack all creativity. No they don’t need to be overly difficult or have annoying 1 shot mechanics like Lilith. Lilith is also a horribly designed fight, inconsistent wave spawns, horrible visuals and frankly its buggy. So like many others I cheesed the fight and skipped all phases to get my title / garbage mount.

Farming the mats as a mostly solo player takes far to long. You could even argue in groups it takes to long. There is no good way in game to find groups so you rely heavily on 3rd party apps/communities. At least cut the material cost in half or something. The way I see it now is I have no intention of spending 600+ hours farming mats every season to go fight Duriel for a 1 in 300 chance at getting a uber unique.

Blizzard… maybe you guys need to pull some of the boss designers from the WoW team or do something. All these bosses suck. I would be embarrassed if I was a designer and put out these encounters. Go take a look at some of the encounters from a f2p game like Lost Ark also. Bosses in D4 are basically target dummies with cheese mechanics like Lilith that 1 shot you. None of them feel epic. None of them feel rewarding.

This patch was a step in the right direction but the game is still in beta.

Well, I think the data showed 2% droprate for ubers, that means in avarage 50 Duriel runs for 1/7, if you want to have shako and are really lucky, you might get it after 200 Duriel runs. No problem, it’s only like 800+ Whispers and ~666 Helltide Steel chests to open, do kill thunder knight and varshan 400 times each, to have the mats for the 200 Duriel runs.

About 16 hours until I was able to clear NM100 consistently, 10 hours later I was zapping through them in minutes with 0 deaths and entire screens of mobs going poof on contact.

yeah i dont know if i can do another helltide again. I’ve been doing NM dungeons as it opposes a challenge but getting low level ancestral gear in the 40 range, maybe i need to keep upping it as i level…

anyway, im getting bored now.
