I am getting crazy latency (over 1500-2000 at times) for the past 24 hours when playing the game. It doesn’t always happen, but it got worse today, to the point I keep disconnecting from the server. Usually I would just think this is a server issue, but I am not seeing anyone else have the issue so it bothers me.
Here are some facts:
Location: California
Internet connection: Wired connection 1GB AT&T ISP
PC: 4090 + 12900 + 64GB RAM
Speed test close to what the ISP claims
No issue what so ever with other online activities (Video streaming, other online gaming, web browsing)
Didn’t have this issue during the beta as well
I’ve tried: restarting router/modem/PC, renew ip, flush dns, turn-off windows firewall, nothing works.
Made sure no other application is eating the bandwidth when I D4
So you can see why I am puzzled. At this point, I don’t think it’s a server issue. It feels like something is wrong on my end. But I just couldn’t pinpoint the issue. Any insight/recommendation would be appreciated.

I am having the same exact issue. I have a 2gb fiber connection with ATT and this is the only game that has given me this problem. For me it happens when I log in, and when I transfer zones. I can usually tell when it is about to time out and boot me.
I have restarted my router, changed from hardwired to wifi/viceversa, flushed my DNS and disabled my firewall. It feels like there is a memory leak, but it is so inconsistent that I cannot say for sure.
Did you have the same issue yesterday? The game was running fine when it just released yesterday for me. But today it just went to hell.
I tried updating Windows as somebody suggested, no luck

I’m having the same issue. Also AT&T 1Gb connection. I’m in Fort Worth. It’s interesting because my girlfriend can be playing at the same time on her computer next to me and be getting 50ms latency. Sometimes the roles are reversed. Sometimes logging out and in again a few times gets a good connection for a little while.
I am in Ft. Worth as well. The issue has been present since day 1. Nothing I do is making it any better.
Yep, same here… Seems to happen when transferring zones or joining a party. Logging out then back in fixes it for a short time.

If I had to take a guess, something along the path AT&T is using has issues right now.
You guys can run a WinMTR for 10 mins or so and compare. See if there is anything odd the the pathing, packet loss, or latency.
There may be a high traffic node that is shared maybe?

For now try using the D3 IP addresses or the WoW ones. I think D4 has two for the US, West and Central.

I run a test using D3 IP (Couldn’t find D4’s IP). Not sure how to interpret the result thou, seem the average loss% is around 10-15%. The column “Worst” ping are all above 1000.

So what you want to look at is the packet loss to start with. You should have none, or very little.
You have 11% packet loss right at the start. I am surprised you can play at all. So you are right, that checking the local PC, your local in-house network is where you want to start.
There are some suggestions here to start with.

I’m completely unable to post mine, even with the preformat.
However it’s 0% loss until the final two hops before the destination, then it’s 100% with a host-timeout, but it makes it with 0% loss and worst is 61.
That is server masking for security reasons usually. Not you. So yours sounds like it is not due to packet loss or latency along the way.

I was thinking same thing when reading the other responses.
Similar issue here. I have wired fiber internet with zero network latency to any other service out there.
In D4 the cellars and dungeons are smooth but overworld and towns are filled with rubberbanding. It’s impossible to play at this point since I walk forward a screen and 15 seconds later the server catches up and a dozen mobs have killed me in half a second.
I do not have any performance or hitching issues related to the system. There is no graphical issue and the frame rate is perfectly fine, even when I am stuck in a server lag bubble.
I am connecting from Dallas, TX and my region says “Americas”. Is there a way to try another server in that region?
