Even in d2 are better mercenaries

In d2 we could give equipment and in D4 we couldn’t. can someone tell me why it was not possible to make mercenaries with their own gear and a few aspects so that it would be something more and not so boring???

The reason is so that once people will start complaining about mercenaries, the lead designer can give an interview where he’ll say that modern players don’t enjoy D2 style mercenaries anymore.
