Let me help you all out a bit:
Conceptually, keep in mind that:
-
eternal players DON’T play seasons because they don’t want to re-level, re-do manuals, re-do the codex, re-do glyphs - why anyone would think re-farming whole tiers of gear or all gear is somehow excluded from the redo list is beyond me.
-
some eternal players are really playing to get max gear (3 ga, ga mythics) and this takes much longer than a single season - having to basically restart…
-
many eternal players are playing ALL classes at this point. I have generally tried to maintain 1 build per class each major update. Working on all classes with limited time to play (which is also common) takes more than a season or even two.
- seasonal players usually work on 1 class / character a season - extrapolate that.
-
some eternal players don’t play as much as seasonal players so while the season is over for many in a month, eternal players are usually in a longer player cycle relative to finishing a class.
-
eternal players feel that they have inherent value in their characters over time and have “sunk cost” relative to time spent. This is of course removed over time (with minor updates/power creep) - expectedly so, but the rate of which vested time value is removed / devalued is too fast right now.
