Enchanting 'Legacy Items' After S4 Start

Is there any clarity on what happens when you try to enchant a legacy item? Will it give you the old affix list? Will you not be able to enchant at all so you need to finish enchanting them before s4 starts?

Ooh that’s a good question. Maybe they’ll always be registered as Legacy items so the new rules won’t apply to them, or you just won’t be able to touch them at all. Need some insight from @PezRadar up in here.

Lol you give me far too much credit, I won’t be picked again for a long while to come.

Dont throw away the legacy gear. It has the most precious affix “Damage reduction While Injured”

I believe will not able to enchant otherwise could be over power when old and new gear affix mix together. Someone will figure out the most broken combo and make old gear better than new one. Like a glove with +3 Frozen Orb roll another new affix with +2 core skill.

Maybe in PTR glove it is possible to have both but I rarely see a glove drop with +skill ranks like in S3, and it is very easy to get +skill old glove in existing system. Or maybe some op combo with cool down reduction, lucky hit or damage reduction. All these are affix which can make a broken build.

From memory, during camp fire they said legacy items would be locked and not be able to be tempered or masterworked.

Enchant is different vendor

Correct. And I suspect legacy items will be account locked and not tradable.

You are correct, we’re just talking about enchanting, rerolling essentially.

With the new patch there are new rules put in place with enchanting/rerolling affixes on items. I’ve explained this in another post but I’ll give a brief example.

An amulet currently can roll with Two passives on it, or it can roll with one passive and you can enchant another (if you’re lucky). The new patch will only allow one passive to be rolled on an amulet now, and you can not enchant another onto the amulet.

There’s more then just this example, but essentially affixes are assigned a bucket, and you can’t have two affixes from the same bucket appear on items anymore after the patch. You will never find 3 Resist Boots again, it literally can’t happen with this update. In fact you can’t even craft a 2 resist pair of boots.

So now the question remains, will Legacy items be restricted on their enchants/rerolls because of this, or could you potentially reroll another resist on a pair of boots that already has 2 or 3 resists because it’s a legacy item and uses the old rules? For that matter would you still be able to enchant Damage Reduction on a legacy item? New system gets rid of that affix entirely from gear.

Maybe enchant all your current items now to get what you want/need in S3 or Eternal before S4 starts, just to be safe? Oh, and upgrade them to the max too hehe.

Not sure if those rares will have much trade value in Eternal once S4 starts since you can’t “upgrade” them via tempering and masterworking. So, will base stats be enough…?

Also, we probably won’t be able to trade legacy items anyway.

I believe that nothing will happen to them. You keep them to show off to others later down the road. I certainly don’t want mine proactively changed. It would ruin their worth. I can always farm up the new ones but I want to have hipster bragging rights for my legacy ubers lol.
I have a whole lot of items that are no longer in wow in my bank and it serves as nostalgia
